Former Australian fast bowler Jeff Thomson gives his thoughts on the modern game and players having to be able to perform in all formats.
Thomson played 51 Tests and 50 One-Day Internationals for his country but modern players have to also juggle four or five-day cricket with one-day games as well as Twenty20 cricket.
He says that it must be difficult for players, who have to be good enough to perform in all three formats of the game.
He was speaking to us at an event in London to celebrate The Ashes, run by D & G Partners, ahead of the One-Day International series between Australia and England.
Jokingly, he suggests that at least Australia put up a proper side for the contest after England chose to rest a number of key players ahead of this winter's Ashes Tests.
