India 669-9 (Tendulkar 203, Raina 128, Sehwag 99)
Second Test, Colombo, day four
Scorecard

Sachin Tendulkar and Suresh Raina shared a partnership worth 256 with Tendulkar reaching a double-century and Raina passing three figures on debut before India closed day four of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo on 669 for nine.

That handed them a lead of 27 as they reply to Sri Lanka's 642 for four declared, in which Kumar Sangakkara made 219 and Mahela Jayawardene and Tharanga Paranavitana both stroked centuries.

India resumed the day on 382 for four and their first task was to avoid the follow-on, which they managed without losing a wicket as Tendulkar and Raina made serene progress towards their eventual respective scores of 203 and 120.

Raina reached his maiden Test century in 192 balls to become the fourth player, after Chris Gayle of the West Indies, Brendon McCullum of New Zealand, and Jayawardene, to score a century in all three formats of the international game.

He was dismissed when he was caught by Sangakkara off Ajantha Mendis but Tendulkar went on to reach a fifth Test double in 338 balls before being caught by wicket-keeper Prasanna Jayawardene off Tillakaratne Dilshan's off-spin.

Dilshan went on to take two further wickets when he had Mahendra Singh Dhoni (76) caught and bowled and then Harbhajan Singh caught by Sangakkara without scoring.

Mendis struck once more to bowl Abhimanyu Mithun for 41 before Ishant Sharma closed the day unbeaten on ten with Pragyan Ojha yet to score.

Sri Lanka won the opening match in the three-game series by ten wickets.
