The England & Wales Cricket (ECB) has announced that First Class umpires Richard Kettleborough and Richard Illingworth had been promoted to the ICC International Panel with immediate effect.

The pair will join their County colleague Nigel Llong on the International Panel. Llong has stood in six Test Matches since joining the International Panel four seasons ago and will officiate in the forthcoming India v Sri Lanka Test series.

Richard Kettleborough who joins the International Panel as an on-field umpire made his ODI debut in the recent NatWest Series between England and Australia. The appointment of the 36-year former Yorkshire batsman follows the promotion of Ian Gould to the ICC Elite Panel earlier this year.

Former England spin bowler Richard Illingworth, who like Kettleborough joined the First Class Umpires list in 2006, has also been appointed to the International Panel as a 3rd Umpire.

Chris Kelly, ECB’s Umpires’ Manager, said: “We are delighted that three of our First Class umpires have been nominated to serve on the International Panel. These appointments demonstrate the depth of umpiring talent within County cricket and reflect the excellent progress both umpires have made over the past four seasons.”
