The governing body of cricket in the Netherlands (KNCB) has appointed Richard Cox as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Cox has over 20 years of experience in the game, having previously been Director of Cricket/Academy Director at Warwickshire CCC and most recently involved at Bromsgrove School.
He has also worked with the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and the appointment ends a lengthy search for the right man following increased success of the Netherlands on the field, highlighted by their humbling of England in the ICC World Twenty20 at Lord's earlier in the year.
“With the advent of the Netherlands men’s team being in the ECB 40-League competition in 2010 and also the various ICC Tournaments over the next few years this is an exciting and challenging time to be assuming such a responsible position," Cox said.
"Both the Men’s and the Women’s teams have important phases of their development to tackle in ECB competitions and with ICC. I am thoroughly looking forward to the role and to working with everyone involved in Dutch Cricket both domestically and internationally. In particular a key area will be working with the clubs and the KNCB development team to sustain the game at all levels.”
ICC Regional Development Manager Richard Holdsworth added: "Richard brings a wealth of skills and experience in management, cricket administration, commercial and development of the game, and will be a great resource of leadership to Dutch Cricket". "He has a huge background in grassroots and club cricket, as well as the higher levels of elite cricket and holds a highly esteemed ECB Level 4 coaching award, both of which will help him develop the game further in the Netherlands."
Cox is to begin his role on 1st December when he will meet with his counterparts in Dubai.
