Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been named as the Cricket World® Player Of The Week following his stunning innings of 175 against Australia.
In that knock in the fifth ODI in Hyderabad, he also passed 17,000 runs in ODI and in the week when he will mark 20 years in international cricket, the Cricket World team recognised that he deserved the award for a quite outstanding innings.
His 175, which ultimately wasn't quite enough to lead India to victory, included 19 fours and four sixes and he faced just 141 balls in all compiling his 45th ODI century as he continues to break records and remain clear of his nearest challengers.
The 'Little Master' first played international cricket in November 1989 and he has scored more Tests and ODI centuries than any other player as well as more runs in Test and ODI cricket than anybody else.
This is the fifth time he has been named as the Player Of The Week, which is also, unsurprisingly a record.
Other contenders for this week's award were Australians Shaun Marsh, Shane Watson and Doug Bollinger, Zimbabwean Tatenda Taibu, Bangladeshi Naeem Islam, New Zealander Brendon McCullum and Pakistani Shahid Afridi.
