Scorecard
WICB Cup Final, Providence Stadium
Kieron Pollard starred with bat and ball as Trinidad & Tobago beat Guyana by 81 runs to take home the WICB Cup at the Providence Stadium.
The hard-hitting all-rounder thumped 57 as T & T scored 286 for six and he then took three wickets as Guyana were bowled out for 205 in reply.
Pollard faced 50 balls in all, accelerating towards the end of his innings with four fours and three sixes after the groundwork for a handy score had been laid down by Darren Bravo, who made 76 and Daren Ganga's 46.
Denesh Ramdin was unbeaten on 44 in 26 balls, the wicket-keeper smashing four maximums to set Guyana an enormous target and they were helped with a number of catches going down as well.
Guyana made a slow start in reply before Travis Dowlin (41) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (59) put on 89 for the second wicket but with the middle order barely contributing a run, T & T retained control of the match.
A late flurry of 46 from Royston Crandon and 28 from Veerasammy Permaul came too late to change the outcome of the match, Pollard having dismissed Narsingh Deonarine (2), Shivnarine Chanderpaul (0) and Christopher Barnwell (0).
Ravi Rampaul finished with two for 31 as T & T retained their title.
