New Zealand Women 116-5 (Devine 48) beat
Australia Women 115-7 (Blackwell 40, Devine 3-24) by five wickets
Second Twenty20 International, Hobart
Scorecard
Sophie Devine scored 48 and took three wickets as New Zealand Women took their second victory in as many days with a five-wicket triumph in the second Twenty20 International against Australia Women in Hobart.
Devine, who also scored runs in the opening match, was in excellent form as she smashed 48 in 31 balls as New Zealand reached their victory target of 116 with more than three overs to spare.
Batting first, Australia were kept in check as Devine picked up the wickets of Shelley Nitschke (15), Leah Poulton (24) and Lisa Sthalekar (2) to return three for 24 while Suzie Bates took two for 20.
Captain Alex Blackwell top scored for Australia with 40 in 38 balls.
In reply, Aimee Watkins led from the front in style, making 36 and although they lost the wickets of Bates (1) and Sarah McGlashan (6) to slip to 18 for two, Watkins and Devine then added 75 for the third wicket to put the White Ferns on course for the win.
Three late wickets gave Australia some hope but that partnership had done enough to put New Zealand in an unassailable position.
The third and final game is in Hobart on 23rd February.
