England v Pakistan
First Test, Trent Bridge
Scorecard & live coverage
England won the toss and decided to bat first on the opening day of their four-match Test series against Pakistan under cloudy skies at Trent Bridge.
Pakistan skipper Salman Butt said he would have also chosen to bat first but hoped his much-vaunted pace attack could use conditions to their favour.
As expected, England welcomed Paul Collingwood, Stuart Broad and Steven Finn back into their side as Tim Bresnan was left out and Pakistan were unsurprisingly unchanged following their three-wicket win over Australia at Headingley.
The Umpire Decision Review System will be in place throughout the series, which moves on to Edgbaston, The Oval and finally Lord's.
England: Andrew Strauss (captain), Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Eoin Morgan, Matthew Prior, Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann, James Anderson, Steven Finn
Pakistan: Salman Butt (captain), Imran Farhat, Azhar Ali, Umar Amin, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Amir, Umar Gul, Mohammad Asif, Danish Kaneria
