Gloucestershire have moved quickly to sign a new wicket-keeper following the departure of Steve Adshead by bringing in Jonathan Batty from Surrey.
Batty, who joined Surrey in 1997, has signed a three-year deal at Gloucestershire after a season in which he scored 937 first-class runs and took 50 County Championship dismissals.
In his career to date, he has scored 8,788 first-class runs and has taken 500 catches and 64 stumpings while he has scored 21 centuries in all cricket.
Speaking to Gloucestershire's official website (www.gloscricket.com), Batty said he was looking forward to a fresh challenge.
"It is an exciting opportunity to take on a new challenge," he said. I am looking forward to joining up with John Bracewell, Jack Russell and the Gloucestershire team."
Director of Cricket, John Bracewell added: "We are delighted that Jonathan has signed for us and I have no doubt that he is the missing link between the 1st and 2nd division. His ability to bat anywhere from 1 to 7 gives our batting great flexibility for all competitions."
