Brighton-based strategic design consultancy, 021 Creative (www.021creative.com), is acting as the creative agency for Sussex County Cricket Club (SCCC) after winning a competitive three-way pitch for the job.
SCCC decided to appoint 021 to handle its offline marketing, as the club is seeking to build on its on the field success of 2008 when it became champion of the NatWest Pro40 Division One title.
Ian Davis, sales and marketing manager at SCCC, says: "021 Creative impressed us with its pitch. The agency has considerable commercial experience and is strategic in its outlook and approach, which convinced us about teaming up to take our marcomms to the next level."
021 is already introducing new themes to SCCC's campaign. The club is the oldest County Cricket Club in the world and the new creative reflects this heritage by introducing 'hero' shots of former players and morphing them with the stars of today, including Matt Prior and Luke Wright.
Andrew Hodge, 021's creative director, comments: "We analysed the marketplace and produced an audit of other counties' literature. We then researched Sussex's history and 'the oldest club in the world' idea came to us immediately, as it was obviously a key selling point for the historic club."
021's work for SCCC has so far encompassed corporate and member literature, tactical e-marketing creative, DVD casing, gift vouchers and the club handbook. Other works in progress include a special campaign to promote the club's prestigious match with Australia at Hove in 09 , as well as development of brand strategy, working closely with Ian Davis.
