Bupa research - backed by former England captain Michael Vaughan - has laid bare the sorry state of Britain's knees - with one in four Britons stating they have suffered from knee pain in the last year and 81% of sufferers currently in pain. With particular relevance to cricket, given the need for cricketers to be able to change direction and speed quickly whether bowling, batting and fielding, the new research could offer new hope for many players.

Player Of The Week

There can be only two possible contenders for this week's Cricket World Player of the Week award and it is virtually impossible to separate them. Stuart Broad took the man of the match award at Lord's for leading the second innings demolition of New Zealand, but without James Anderson's first innings five-fer there might not have been much of a run chase for the Black Caps on day four.

Sir Ian Botham, former England captain and the hero of England's 1981 Ashes victory over Australia, says England were 'magnificent' during their 170-run victory over New Zealand at Lord's in the first cricket Test of the summer. James Anderson took his 300th Test wicket and Stuart Broad took seven wickets as New Zealand were bowled out for 68 and Botham was speaking at an event launching Unibet's summer of sport at the home of cricket.

The demise of Somerset in very much the talking point on the county circuit at the moment, with the county giving further ammunition to their critics by collapsing for 108 to lose inside two days to Sussex. Elsewhere, Worcestershire built on Alan Richardson's eight-wicket haul yesterday thanks to a Moeen Ali century, while Durham took the upper hand over Middlesex.
There were two eight-wicket hauls in the LV= County Championship as the seventh round got into full swing today. Mr Predictor

A cricket betting video for Cricket World TV about the latest cricket betting odds as John Pennington and Alastair Symondson look ahead to the Twenty20 International series between England and India as well as South Africa and New Zealand. Fresh from winning the Test series 2-1, a confident England team will take on India who will be glad to get on to the pitch and away from being criticised from all quarters for their performance in the Tests. Neither side is at full strength however, with England missing their captain Stuart Broad as well as James Anderson and Steven Finn, meaning Eoin Morgan will captain and Joe Root, Stuart Meaker and James Harris will be looking to impress.
