A contender for craziest county story already:
http://www.cricketworld.com/england/county/lancashire/article/?aid=14276 Well, I suppose having already starred in a horror show (England's World Cup participation) then it's a logical choice. |

Monde Zondeki has signed for Warwickshire , teaming up with his old pal
and mentor , Allan Donald. Zondeki is the leading wicket taker in
the domestic competition in South Africa this season - he plays for the
Cape Cobras.

Is there a likelihood that if Saqlain performs for Surrey, he will be in line for England national team? Or are they contneted with Monty?

Leicestershire have signed controversial West Indian speedster ,
Jermaine Lawson. I haven't seen him for some time , but he's
apparently doing okay for Jamaica and hasn't been pulled up for any
dodgy deliveries.
That's not to say he isn't chucking the odd one - have a look at him for us Clobs and tell us if he's clean! |

) but is still pretty sharp

Um, fellas, Jermaine Lawson got caught under the camera for the Stanford 2020 tournament and many West Indians I know said he should never get a recall again for West Indies or Jamaica. The chucking was too blatant! Leicestershire will have controversy surrounding them when of if they win, if their fans are like West Indians.
I don't know how much degress it was but it looked bad and I thought they were going to sign back Jerome Taylor for the latter parts of the season. Edited by spin wizard - 29 February 2008 at 12:53pm |

He could be a smart acquisition Clobs! He must be some
sort of late developer , because he'd not played a lot of cricket at
1st class level here until this season.
Boeta Dippenaar's Eagles took him on and he ended up as top wicket taker in the domestic competition. He swings it away from the right handers at lively , but not express pace. Pretty accurate too and his batting isn't bad either , he made his first ton this season. You'll get plenty of effort from him and you won't have to worry about any extension beyond 15 degrees with this fella! Methinks Leicestershire have replaced Kent as home from home for South Africans ! |

His figures certainly look not unreasonable, but it is slightly frustrating after all the hoo-ha the club made about their new selection policies to develop players for England to see yet another Kolpak arriving.

Is it because the youngsters haven't come on as expected or are
there some new guys running the club and have different ideas ?

this announcement only came at the tail end of last season so it's not a case so much of youngsters not coming through - new signing James Taylor had a decent time at the U19 WC and hopefully won't go the same way as a number of other promising England youth players to have passed through Leics' ranks in recent years (Sadler, New, Maunders).
I fear it was more likely to be some sabre rattling by the chairman who clealry has designs on the ECB job at some point and so likes to make regular pronouncements that get his name in the papers. |

News that had definitely escaped me until my mate told me about 20 minutes ago. Yorkshire have got Morne Morkel for part of the season, as cover for Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, who signed a 3 year contract with the ICL.
Morkel's on a 'week by week' contract until the PCB declare Rana available. I don't know about you guys but I know which I'd rather have.
Morne Morkel on a First Class Headingley Deck (Always different to tests for some reason) is an awesome prospect. I can see him taking alot of wickets for us. I hope we decide to have him for the whole season rather than just part of it.
He joins up with his Yorkshire team mates when they get back from the pre-season tour.
Brophy, Kruis, Rudolph and now Morkel. I think that Yorkshire are challenging for the South African home away from home title. Edited by The Tyke - 11 March 2008 at 12:04am |

Fine signing Tykey , but you can't have him for the whole season
as he'll be in the frontline against England , come July! I
wonder what kind of reception he'll get at Headingley when he's bowling
to Vaughan and company - it should be very interesting.

Good to see that all the English test players will be going back to
their respective counties before the test series against New Zealand.
Not at the same time though. Harmison , Hoggard and Vaughan will be playing in the season's openers on April 16th , whilst Bell , Ambrose and Strauss will return a week later. Cook , Anderson , Panesar , Sidebottom and Broad will be off until the end of April , with Collingwood and Pietersen only returning at the beginning of May. That's good news for the counties and the fans - I never supported Fletcher's "keep them in cottonwool" approach. For the likes of Harmison , Hoggard and Vaughan it's a great chance to get into form after a poor tour. Only a shedload of wickets will see Harmison's return to international cricket , whilst good solid performances could well be enough for Hoggard. I wonder what the tabloids will print if Vaughan's poor form runs right up until May 15th - the day of the 1st test. |

Andre Nel's returning to Essex for the start of the season. Danish
Kaneria wants some time at home and misses the 1st month. Can't say I
blame the lad , gripping the ball is a snowstorm is really tricky.
Good luck to Nel , I hope he takes plenty and CSA takes note. |

I'm glad he hasn't gone the Kolpak route. He just might be selected for the England tour. Maybe that's part of what motivated him to sign in the first place.

The curtain raiser at Lords , Sussex against MCC was an eventful day's
cricket. In bowler friendly conditions the county champions were bowled
out for just 171 with no batter making 40. In reply MCC are 130-4 at the close
with Owais Shah unbeaten on 72.
The Aussie (English Dad though) Ryan Harris has 3-20 and looks a nice signing - can the Aussies on here tell us a bit about the lad ? Edited by Sledger - 11 April 2008 at 7:34am |

He may look like a nice signing, but Sussex have had to withdraw him from their game against Hampshire because he has a 3 year contract with Queensland. |
