Mark Ramprakash recently went through 30000 FC runs.

Add to this he has 94 FC 100s (probaby 95 in about 2 hours time) and his record is amazing.

Just wanted to say well done really.

Could you have done it somewhere more appropriate and with the Ronseal approach to the thread title, can I suggest congratulation Ramps on 30000 first class career runs

Probably.

Does it matter that much?

I would have thought facts, stats and records is the right place.

Is there any other current player with a record of such volume?

Don't have a pop at Ramps 143, you do your obvious intelligence an injustice to have a go at a talented batsman to get one over on another poster.

I would have said player discussion, I would also suggest that if you are articulate in the naming of the thread you attract the right kind of interest.

Ramps was the victim of an extended period of bleedin' awful English selection policy.  143 repeatedly extols the virtue and greatness of Australian cricket, few would argue, but Ramps continually excelled against the Aussies, particularly overseas.

Seems to be doing ok.....

Lehmann followed by Cox and Siddons

For the record Ramprakash failed at International level, which was sad

He failed like so many others because of the England managements incompitence

In all my years of watching cricket no one has been a better batsmen at FC level than Ramps.  This includes Lara and Tendulkar and all the other greats.

I'm a great fan of Ramps, but that's just twaddle.

At FC level.

I dont think so.  Remember I wont have seen much cricket outside of England at FC level.

Over the period of time we are talking about, which happily only preceeds Ramps career by a few years, who exactly would you say was a more majestic, impressive batsman?  At FC level.

International test cricket is first class, making the Tendulkar and Lara references daft - I believe you must have seen them play, and Ramps, good as he is, doesn't come close.

i have seen them play in tests and some at FC level.  But I should have been clearer.  Away from tests Ramps is different.  Compared at that level he IMO is better than anyone.

Just my opinion.

Let me say it again, it appears to take a while to sink in ....... TESTS ARE FIRST CLASS CRICKET

There, that any better?

Yes......i......get......that

But.....you.....are......allowed......to......look......at......performance......at.......different.......levels

Ramps problem was mental at test level.  At the levek below he was and is awesome.

Hick is superb, but actually his period of dominance was less.

Gooch comes closest for me, but still Ramps

Silly me, when you said over the period of time we are talking about I assumed you meant Ramps' contemporaries.

But you said first class then claimed Ramps to be better than two of the greatest first class cricketers to grace the game.  You are clearly mad and not worthy of future consideration.

Ramps is the finest player I have seen batting live. As a season ticket holder at the Oval I am gifted some extraordinary innings from the great man. I have seen many fine players play here but none match him. A wonderful player and a wondeful guy. I have spoken to him once or twice and he's a lovely bloke. I cant wait till he scores his hundredth hundred and he had better score it at the oval or i will be very peeved.

95 FC 100s now (currently 172*)

Will Ramps be the last person to score 100 x 100s?

I cant see any more such fine players failing at the top level, but you never know.

As I say I dont care how much I get shouted down Mark Ramprakash is the best batsman I have ever see play.

However many times Sachin murders Bangladeshi and Kenyian bowling at 'Test' and 'ODI' level he will never be as good a player as Ramprakash to me.

isn't that the essense of cricket?  The fact that I can put one player on a pedistal while you cant.

Ramprakash is in no class of Sachin Tendulkar Vaughny! If he was, he would have played much more test cricket than he did!! I can't actually believe someone is soooooooooooooo naive to say that!

Oh yeah, Ramp has been playing county cricket season after season for donkey years now, tell me how much county cricket Sachin and Lara played, and compare the skills to ramp. Tendulkar and lara doesn't have time for County level because of international cricket and make sure to sleep on those facts overnight.
