The idea is for 4 day matches with more cricket within the 4 days. As
many as 110 overs per day has been suggested and if implemented will
not give rise to more drawn matches.

But we are already having enough of night cricket and unjustified results. tets matches should not be thrown into that same undue advantage stuff!!! 110 overs will be lethargic for the fielding side

Not for good sides it won't ! There's the added benefit for the
paying spectator (of which I'm one!) of seeing a lot more cricket in a
day.
There's a problem in the subcontinent when playing cricket in winter - maybe it's time that idea was abandoned. |

Zuhair, what I was trying to tell you is that there are a lot of people (well, West Indians to my knowing) that go to party in the night and still go to work next day. I once went to bed at 4:30 am, got up 8:30 am and went out to watch a cricket match and all was well. I've even heard of a story where one person went to bed at 4 am, got up at 6 am and then played cricket that very same day! So, going to night matches shouldn't affect going to work the next day unless you live a long, long way from the stadium in which it will take you longer to get back home.

The great Denis Compton often turned up to test matches still dressed
in a dinner jacket - he hadn't been to bed. Then again , they were real
men in those days !

I would have thought though that jamming more cricket in to a longer day would increase the chances of bad weather accounting for a higher percentage of lost play. If you lose a full day in a 4 dayer that's 25%! |

So many negative waves Max ! The chances of rain delays aren't increased by extending play on any particular day - it's exactly the same scenario where it might be hosing down for what would be the 5th day of any test. Bt reducing the match to 4 days could well see a finish. Anyway , it wouldn't be a problem in Cape Town ![]() |

Cape town matches might be over in 2 days Sledge. That ball goes berserk under those lights.

why try to change the test match cricket to day nighters, that is just rubbish, first of all what colour ball will u use,at what time will u start, how many overs will be per daynight, what will happen when it rains will u stay out there all night till the rain stops, will the light be able to dry the out field, will the spirit of the game be the same when night falls, the game will loss it competitiveness because the team winning the toss will always want to bat first. That list can go on and on as to all the reasons why i believe daynight test is just rubbish and will not make sence.

As Ian Chappell said, until they find a white ball that can last 80 overs, they shouldn't be thinking of playing day/night tests.
