There have been countless centuries scored in the nets that would be certain ducks if the batsman was nervous.

This might seem hard to believe for those who know me better, but I batted as though I was playing with my mate in the garden and scored 44.

If nothing else works, I'd resort to bribary- that worked for Dwayne Leverock!

He is happy defending and blocking but when he tries to attack a bad ball, he often holds back on the shot and either can't get it away or lobs up a catch - in the nets he can attack more confidently (doesn't matter if he get's out so much). The result is he scores slowly and gets pressured to quicken which isn't his game. He's worried about slipping down the order which would be bad as he appears to be in the mould of an opener..

The problem is that he has failed in the middle on each of his 5 innings but more worryingly, while he looks solid and capable in the nets, he seems to revert back to old bad habits in the match situation and looks dodgy to say the least!! I was like that when I was 13. I used to be really good in the nets but I'd go back to m old ways in the middle probably because I was nervous because I'd always have in my mind that I would get out next ball, which probably made me even more nervous which didn't help at all. I don't think like that at all now and it's helped my battting. I've always had the technique but it was my mindset, which I think might be his main problem. I used to hold back on shots but ot I just follow through with it and it seems to work much better :)
If anything he's a little too tentative, his defence is good (esp. in the nets) but when it comes to attacking the bad balls his natural action is to hold back rather than crash it. The result is he struggles to score and gets himself out often by getting frustrated by himself or by his team mates...
