I should also have said that I don't see how there is anything implied or in the spirit of the laws that would suggest a squash ball in the glove would not be welcome. In that we apparently disagree.

I suppose the whole point is was it the right thing for Gilchrist to do.  Would we be talking about this if Gilchrist had the squash ball and got out for a duck???? Doubt it.

Opinions are not proven, but they are certainly based on facts. For example, if it is your opinion that the Australian media would have accused SL of cheating, then surely there were occurances in the past that make you think this would be the case?
 
I am biased as I am a SL cricket supporter so I see occurances all the time that are certainly not based on anything bar the fact that I am a big SLsupporter.  However, I am not narrowminded and can see that a team like Australia deserved to win the trophy as they played brilliantly.  I certainly won't take that away from them, they deserve better.

Hang on a minute Roscoe - nowhere have I accused anyone of cheating and I resent that presumption on your part.  My point was singularly about the hypocrisy evidenced through the response to the allegation of cheating.  My point being that, had roles been reversed, Australians would be the first to decry the use of an artificial batting aid.

      This seems to becoming a heated discussion for absolutely no purpose. Gilly played a great knock with a squash ball in his glove. So what? The people that could have disciplined him for breaching "spirit of rules" havent done so, which makes a legal situation. I do believe that Aussies are given a bit of stick from around the globe but we dont mind.
