Ha, I have been watching some comparision of Ram Prakash with Sachin. I'm not a great fan of Sachin though. through hard work, all the commentators say he works harder than most at his batting, I am not knocking the mans ability at all but I dont think he is as naturally gifted at timing the ball than the guys like Pietersen or Flintoff. Boycott says it perfectly "Collingwood uses every ounce of his ability"

i mean he hasnt got as much talent as Pietersen or Flintoff who are natural timers of the ball. I am, by no means saying he isn't a class act, not by any means. I am merely saying I think he works harder than most of the international players today. Another one is Geoff Boycott, he spent hours trying to get his bat totally straight against anyone who would bowl at him. Also Vijay Singh apparently practises 8 hours a day, yet still isn't as good as Tiger as Tiger is far more naturally talented.

I dont think Collingwood's very talented but he's still a bloody good batsman. Take Mark Richardson for example. He wasn't the most gifted or prolific batsman ever, but he certainly had what it took mentally! Astounding concentration with a nagging ability to frustrate the bowler into submission!! Cullinan had everything too 143 - a real class act and still theyoungest South African to score a 1st class hundred when still only16. 
    Warne definitely messed with his head and Cullinanjust had no answer. The funny thing was that he played spin really well- except Warne. He made plenty of runs on the subcontinent and was areal treat to watch. He scored quickly and was especially good throughthe cover region.

  The mental glitch was evident whenever SA played Australia andfor that reason Cullinan won't be remembered as a South Africangreat.

Ramprakash has been a prolific runscorer at County level for many ,many years.  He's got every shot in the book and technically looksas nigh perfect as anyone playing the game today.
     Sadly , he just couldn't produce at the highestlevel on a regular basis. The selectors were extremely patient with him, knowing just how talented he was , but in the end he just had to bedropped.

     His legacy might well read something along thelines "A naturally gifted batsman , fluent , asthetically pleasing , arun machine , but............"

     You can guess the rest.

youre right, he isn't anywhere near as good as the top crop of batsmen, I never said he was. It was Vaughan that said that. All I was saying is that's his opinion and people should respect that, even if it's not correct in other people's eyes.

Real shame he never made it at test level, he could probably be quite a good test batsmen if he was picked now, but he's had his chances

Oh yeah, Ramp has been playing county cricket season after season for donkey years now, tell me how much county cricket Sachin and Lara played, and compare the skills to ramp. Tendulkar and lara doesn't have time for County level because of international cricket and make sure to sleep on those facts overnight.
