I thought he wanted to get Yorkshire back to their best and in the next instant he wants to leave them and go off with England and I can see his friend Vaughan having a say in getting him back in the side.

With the Schofield report coming out this month I hope that if new selectors are chosen and also a manager and selector to tour, the coach and captain will do their job and not have such a big say on who they want in the team.
 
Vaughan was instrumental in getting Nixon, a friend, into the team and also had a say in getting Bresnan in. Selection should be made by the selectors who watch most of the county games and talk to coaches, umpires, etc not by a captain. Hussain had a say in Irani, Grayson and Foster getting into the side. Were these players the best in the country at that time?

yes I saw the muppet blowing his own trumpet again, bragging how well he has bowled in T20 AND what a success he has been batting up the order...so to cheer myself up I pulled up the scorecard from the Essex v Leics semi-final last year. Gough should have retired after his knee injury. He was the best one day bowler England had until that time.  By staying on he has kept younger players from developing so we went to the World Cup with Plunkett and Mahmood who had played about 20 games each. We should have had a settled bowling attack that had been bowling together for years.
 
Today I read that he wants to get back into the ODI team and thinks he will do especially well in the 20/20 World Cup. He probably sees 36 year old Nixon in the side and thinks he should be there as well. We have two good 20/20 bowlers in Lewis and Broad. Both have better county 20/20 figures than he has.

I'm not entirely sure why Dalrymple wasn't more in the mix to take that number 8 spot for the first Ashes Test.
 
Monty is easily the best of the three but surely Dalrymple should have had a good case to be ahead of Gilo?

I think he is a very good batsman and with time, can only improve on his bowling too. I think Yardy is a better batsman than Dalrymple. I'm not sure Yardy is a specialist one day player. I think he will be pushing to replace Giles at number 8 for England as well as Dalrymple in a few years.

I still don't understand why everyone is against him. He's one of thefew people around who make cricket exciting. His batting displayin  the first 1 day proved that. And he is a good cricketer, stillthe best one day bowler in England. Better than anyone with a namethat is also a vegetable.
