Convincing display by the Aussie batsmen on a good pitch , but theirbowling looked pretty pedestrian.  The South Africans gave it a go, especially the openers but like the Aussies , the bowling lookedrather tame. Ntini's lack of a slower ball is going to cost him plentyand the targetting of Pollock was obviously premeditated and left Smithwith little to turn to.
     Still , I expect SA to recover from thisreversal and 4 wins in the super 8's will see them in the semifinals.They'll not want to finish 4th though - another semifinal clash withAustralia won't be what the doctor ordered! (Yes , I expect Australiato top the super 8's with Sri Lanka as runners-up)

That's precisely the point he's making Daisy.

A lot of blame for SA's defeat is being put down to Kallis scoring so slowly, which put pressure on all the other batsmen to try and make up for his efforts.

What I saw of the game I enjoyed - fantastic intent by the Aussies right from the off matched by Smith and De Villiers at the top of the SA innings.

Yes you are right....he hasn't done anything for a while except that 10 matches ago he rescued South Africa, by scoring 100 off 89 balls against India when SA were in trouble.

And in his last 10 games, he has also only batted 5 times. SA's top order have been scoring all the runs, so he hasn't even had a real chance to bat.

I don't think Smith is the problem. I think it's Mickey Arthur who has absolutely no sense of adventure. Great win by ausies, Infact they have again showed us that never count them out of the match till the last ball has been bowled.
 
The match was all but won with a 160 runs partenership upfront and I expected a 10 wickets win for SA as they were really cruising, but the run out of Abe was the biggest turn around. Once you give an inch they take meeters away and in no time, the same team which could not find a decent bowler in the first half of the match ended up with all winners eventually.
 
 What a spirit , fighting ability and courage byAusies! So still the tag of chockers lingering on the africans, can they shun this habit of losing cruntch games ?

Great win by the Aussies. SA had the game in the palms of their hands, and literally gave it away. The DeVilliers run-out was absolutely stunning. Watson should've gotten the man of the match for that throw, which I believe led to the demise of the SA team.
 
Kallis really needs to change gears out of Test mode into ODI mode. What was he doing out there?
 
And perhaps the most relevent question of all: Why the heck is Kemp in the side? He hasn't done anything for SA in a long time. I say pull Kemp off, push DeVilliers into his position, and move Bosman into the opening slot. I'm sure Bosman would do far better than Kemp. (Judging on domestic performance). I hope Graeme Smith has the guts to experiment with his options during the Super 8's. Kemp needs to go back home.

I enjoyed the match a lot. Aussie carnaged the bowlers and them all over the park. Hall bowled the best for the proteas bowlers. He is one of the best death bowlers around although he is no where near the best bowler. Clarke's brilliant improvisation is what helped the aussies to that massive total. Hall and Kallis I thought bowled well to the latter stages considering the pitches conditions but Clarke's brilliance made a different and it was a surperb knock.
 
De Villers and Smith butchered the Aussie attack but that Magnificent run out from Watson changed the game. Smith cramping made the momentum go completely away from the proteas. Kallis game is not to slog and that was a massive difference in the end.
 
Hogg is in good form guys. Look out poor players of spin!

In my opinion there were only two South African batsmen that were super yesterday and that was AB Devilliers and G.Smith. Kemp really played mess yesterday!! It's in situations like those, that you need Kemp to come in and hit a few fours and sixed to bring down the required run rate and increase the current run rate but he really failed big time yesterday....doesn't it remind you a bit about how Dhoni made duck in the game against Sri Lanka when India desperately need to win??? The only thing is that RSA does not have to pay as dearly has India for their lose. Confused

Bymy reckoning, the we only have to beat Bangladesh or whoever it is theyplay in the super 8 stage next week in the WC match to reclaim ournumber one ranking at the top of the ODI Table.

South Africawere to be commended in snatching the mantle from us for a shortperiod, but the true measure of a champion team is the length of timeyou can stay at the top of the sport.

Was a cracking game for all involved! I think the turning point of De Villiers run out and also Smith's cramps. Lovely performance by the Top 4 batsman, and awesome boundary hitting from Hayden. SA completely collapsed from 2-220 odd to end up 294 all out. I cant wait for the first ball of the match for Smith to blast it backward of point and for Symonds to give us the trademark panther like save to silence the doubters. If Symonds does something magial early, the Aussies are home. We will grow ten foot tall and the SA mob will worry.  Would love to see McGrath and Pollock falter today and for Tait to answer his critics by producing some feiry spells. SA have a long batting line up but not the class of others. Gibbs and Boucher are the only two along with Kallis (who is slow though) that I rate.
Having said all that, I hope a score of 165 wins so we can see how they will both lpay under real pressure. Having to score at 7 an over from the outset is not real pressure. Everyone up there has made good points.

I have my eye on Andrew Symonds...no not his good looks and physique.
But rather his performance, assuming he is in form on the return from his injury absence...(well my words may fall short)...but with him in the OZ line-up, "Australia will reign Supreme".

Also, I would pick Australia to bat first if they were to win the toss. They have got a Monstrous batting line-up. Their fielding & Bowling is decent, but if their batters can mount an assault close to 280+, than in my opinion should give SA enough to work on.

by the way all jokes aside should be a great match tonight ... Iwouldnt be the least suprised if South Africa are fired up from the getgo about Bob Woolmer and will want to put in a good performance as itwill help come semi finals. Plenty of talent on both sides. this willbe the match of the world cup.
The result of this tie will have great impact on how these two teams WC campaign proceeds.
Anyway cant wait, the biggest game of the cup so farand plus Roy Symonds is returning for the Aussies. Expect a crackergame but hoping Australia to prevail.(or Im gonna cop it here big time )

Disappointing end to the tournament for the Scots. They underperformedwith bat and ball whilst the Dutch played very well. I'll go with Clobsthough , de Silva was atrocious and the plumbest of LBW's off Brown'sbowling was turned down - why?????
    He didn't affect the result though , they were well beaten.

the turn may be the only factor to deceive persons as the ball isn't seaming and just the first few overs is swinging.
 
I agree though that they might go after hogg with the short boundaries. On the other hand, Hogg is in fine form and his wrong uns are as good as they can get.
