Infact even if i score a boundry that doesnt clear off many things, its the first single or double which takes off all the pressure.

Especially when playing for my age group. I am a senior member of the team and have a good cricket brain despite my inexperience in matches. Playing for the mens team is much easier because theres no pressure, I'm a 15 year old facing far more experienced bowlers and if i get out then it was only expected.

Even if you are be sure to try and show confident body language as you walk out - take purposeful strides, head up, shoulders back. Once you take guard step back and have a look around the field (remember, always look at the gaps, not the fielders!) then when you are ready you can face the first ball, so you are controlling the pace already. Also you may find that really positive calling helps you settle down - a good firm NO or YES as appropriate will burn off that nervous energy, and again also gives an air of confidence that your opponents will notice.

Edited by Clobber

I find that as soon as I hit the first ball in the middle of the bat the nerves go. My main fear is getting a first baller, but touch wood not had one of those for a while.
