His field placements were 95% of the time spot on, as was the way he alternated his bowling attack, and the way he lead with the bat.

The 1.50 on the Aussies winning the series was short, but better than bank interest....and just as safe!  Plus I also backed the 5:0 scoreline (after the 3rd test) for a much bigger profit. So thank you Aussies...you paid for my recent overseas holiday.....

 

I never gave England any chance of retaining the Ashes in Australia (hell, they couldn't even beat Sri Lanka at home!!) against a fired up home team, but I guess the loss of Jones, Vaughan and Trescothik certainly didn't help their cause. Neither did the fact that Flintoff was only able to bowl 10kph slower (than he did 15 months ago) as a result of his ankle problem.

 

At least England can console themselves with the fact that they wont see Warnie or McGrath again on the field. The next Ashes series is likely to be a lot closer.

 

P.S. I did get 2 predictions wrong in this series.

1) I expected MacGill to play 2 or 3 tests (the winning form of the team, the injury to Watson and his own poor domestic form conspired against him)

and 2) early on I thought that England would win 1 test. I guess I underestimated the hunger of the Aussies, especially after all the retirement announcements.

 

Fletcher will be fired if England fails in the World Cup!

Come on sledge, I know it needs a just a win or two to get you back and all of us as well and I believe it would be great for cricket if england pulls something out here and again I wish then good luck!

 

Most people expected a fight from eng not just us guys u mentioned, and to be honest even the auss expected a good matche from eng, so thats why we were all shocked by the hammering.

I might have said somethings but atleast I didn't say England was gonna win the series. Enjoy it mate cause this is the last year you will see a 100% record for the aussies in years to come!

If you are an aussie fan you can well superb legendary cricket from aussie.

If you are an English fan all you can say is England played poor cricket at it's very best.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, joke of the year, England got whitewash 5-0. Chelsea will be proud to get this scoreline.

 

If i was cruel, heartless, and felt like rubbing it in even more, and making it hurt, there's quite a few doozy posts from Sledg, Clobber, Spin Wizard & Inzy that i'd just love to remind them of

 

but i'm not... so i'll just say that Sledg was spot on 2 weeks before the series in saying that "someone's going to come out of this series with a whole lot of egg on their face" (words to taht effect anyway), and i'm pleased to say champ, it was you

 

Well, for all those who criticize the English for being second; I don't know any other side that had deserved to be second than them. Never mind this series loss, anyside of present would have been crushed by the almighty Aussies!

For me colllingwood is not a top level player, against good bowling and tracks favouring the bowlers he is often found out and even out of his depth. He has so many flaws in his batting, a quick short ball at his throat is one ways of getting him and when he drives the ball he does not look good or convincing. I do not believe in bits and pieces cricketrs for test matches, they can do a job in ODI cricket but not in test cricket. You need specialist for each discipline. I hope Eng can give a genuine batsman a go over Collingwood in tests.

 

PS: Eng should not use poor preparation as an excuse due to the nature of modern day cricket players have to be ready and not many teams a get a chance to practise before a series. Fletcher mmust go, struass should be made skipper, Vaughan should be sent back to Eng, prove his match fitness when the season starts and then get in to the team, its only fair and he should not jump the que ahead of young players like Shah, what has he done wrong? Why isn't he playing instead of colly?
