Yep , nice to see Vaughan in good nick , Bell too , but the all toofamiliar collapse tarnished everything. Encouraging too that thebowlers toiled honestly against a brutal assault by Gilchrist andWatson - Monty must have earned a starting place for Friday's opener.
   Australia will be feeling a damn sight better now , but they must've been nervous when England were only one down.

I surely was supporting england. Anyway i had a really good time with a fantastic view from the stadium.

Vaughan and Bell really looked great with some superb shot. At one point i taught they were gonna make 270 when they were about 120 or so for one, knowing KP and flintoff was still to come.
Anyway both team did a fairly good enough comeback to the end with the ball.
 
I just want to know why Pietersen and MR. Superb Ponting wait until the day i was watching live from the stadium to out chaep?
They could atleast save one of these special innings seeing i was their in the stadium.

I can now say, that watching games from the stadium is better than watching it on T.V!
 
Vaughan looked in wicked touch! Playing through the leg side well and some great drives. Bell played well too but both failed to read the wrong un from Hogg. The collapse then followed!
 
Watson entertained the most for the Aussies! That six he hit was magnificent! Tait was bowling quick with the new ball but once the shine went, the ball wasn't pitching off at all. I guess it shows what the pitches are like back here!
 
Good fight back by the English to the end! Panesar bowled alright!
 
All in all, I was disappointed by the English; 60 more runs and it could have been a cracker of a match!!

To be honest it was a really poor pitch to bat on and it eased out considerably once the initial dampness was gone, Pakistan probably would'nt have made 150, but such is the case in these matches.
Pakistan Camp would be reasonably happy with  the bowlers getting amongst wickets, no matter how quick or bad a track, you need to bowl good balls to get wickets, so all 10 again another boost for their bowling.
Younis emerging fast as the man for them , so good to see a fighter in the middle. Africans, probably wont take much out of match, they are  really short of practice I guess, fortunately they will have two more matches to get decent practice before facing the ausies.

No matter what the condition of the pitch in Trinidad, the victory against SA will give Pak lot of confidance.

Good thing is that Hafeez and Malik are in touch both with Bat and Ball. Sami, Gul and Kaneria also playing their part.
 
And the three class players getting it well too.
 
So thing getting well at the right time for the Pakistan.
 
South Africa will definitely be under pressure now. They only managed 3 wickets, which could be quite different if there was a spinner present.
 
And Aus performance will be another worry for them. So defeat coming at wrong time for the proteas!!!

You can't read into these matches too much. NZ beat Sri Lanka today, lost to Bangladesh the other day.

Those south africans really know how to complain. I heard that they complained about the pitch at UWI spec. today!!! I was supporting them against Pak though. To be fair Sledge, recently several players have earnt a spot who wouldn't have been in the running a year ago, Joyce and Nixon for example, which is a much better reason to be changing your side.
 
I don't agree. The players he would have penciled in that sledge was talking about are a lot better quality than the likes of Nixon and Joyce. For example if  I was English coach I would be distraught to have lost Trescothick...and the replacement for him be Ed Joyce.
 
The balance isn't there. Simon Jones, Harmison, Hoggard there big players that have missed important cricket recently. It has been tough for England, who would have though Harmison would have retired from one-dayers?
 
If, and only IF that 2005 team had been at this world cup I would've given them a good chance as they would have become a cohesive unit with a lto fo talent amongst them.

I thought that South Africa might win this one but they've been bowled out for 199.

Australia easily won the match against England but on the positive I was impressed by the English bowlers at the end.

Andrew Strauss is left out of the 13 to play Oz today. Not surprisinglyBopari joins him in the bar (what would you do?)  as England testout all their seamers.   I've a horrible feeling that Strauss'somission could turn out very badly. Not only is he a player who standsup to pressure really well , but he's one of our best close catchers.

    Fletcher said about a year ago that he had pencilled in ten players for the world cup starting line up - my guess is the side that faces NZ will contain barely six  of his prediction of 2006.  Tresco's loss couldn't be anticipated , but are England really settled?
