Hey i thought i'd make an offer to anyone who wanted any records, statistics or any figures for anything, to feel free to ask and i'll see what i can do. I do have a vast array of information, figures, statistics, records, milestones etc etc (and i mean huge) so if there is anything anybody wants to know i'm sure i can help out. Feel free to post it here in this topic or send me a personal message or whatever, i'll try my best to reply to anything.

Quirky thought here JAL - has any recognised batsmen in the history of the game a worse start in Test Cricket than Marvan Atapattu ? I seem to remember he scored just ONE run in his first SIX innings in tests !!! I also think he made a duck in his first ODI too !!!
I know it's tough to follow up on - how about limiting the search to guys averaging over 40 and have played at least 20 test matches. My gut feel is he's the king of duff starters!!

Well this i have checked upon before. He has the worst record for anybody in their first 6 innings yes but that's only because yes he did score the one run but did also get dismessed 3 times and was Not Out a couple of times so his average went down to 0.25. Others have had equally bad starts but most of those come lower down the order, there has been one instance where a player has been 0 Not Out in his first 4 innings and once where a player only scored 2 in his first 9 innings but his average was higher as he was not out 4 times. So yes his record is technically the worst. As for One Dayers after his duck he went on to score well, soon notching up his first limited overs ton. Who would have thought all that time back that he would then go to become Sri Lanka captain huh?

JALRC, if you're still about a couple of things I've been wondering about. 1) Do you have any record of anyone scoring a century from number 9 or 10 in the batting, in any form of cricket if not Test matches? 2) Secondly, what's the highest team score with no one player making a hundred? |

Yeah i'm still about JP, i just went away for a couple of weeks for an Easter retreat. I neded the break from cricket i think. Anyway i'm back for a while but could be gone again by the end of the week. As for your questions: The highest ever score by a number 9 in Test Match cricket is 173 by Ian David Stockley Smith of New Zealand. He hit that against India over 15 years ago. The highest ever score by a number 10 in Test cricket is Walter Reed of England who scored 117 against Australia back in 1884 and that record has stook for an incredible 121 years. It was at the Oval and my Grandfather saw that match and he has told me of it and i told him that the record still stood but he didn't really care about all of that sortof stuff, his love was for the game not the numbers. No century has ever been scored by a number 11 though Zaheer Kahn did recently set a new record for the highest ever score by a number 11 in Test Cricket by hitting 75 against Bangladesh last year. However that is only restrictive of Test Cricket and the highest ever score in first class cricket by a number 11 is 290 by Arthur Mcleish for the University of Middlesex against the University of Bath (and they are or at least were proffessional first class sides in those times and these are official first class match listings) in 1799. As for the highest team score without anyone posting a hundred in what form of the game do you mean? |

Okay there are instances in both forms of the game that in which there are in fact instances of no player scoring a century a three figure total has been recorded against the name of extras. Do you want the highest total in which no player has scored a ton inckusive or reclusive of whether their have been more than 100 runs scored in extras?

JAL a couple of teasers.....do you know who has taken the fastest 5 wicket haul in a test (fewest deliveries). Who has taken the fastest 100 catches in test matches (not keepers) and which player has played the most successive tests?

Hey yeah sorry i did have the answer to your question here somewhere i'll have a look around its here somewhere. I think the post above might have something to do with Pakistan yesterday playing their first ever Twenty20 match. I'll have a look and see on the forums if there's any other relevant topic at the moment where the post would be better suited. Back to that record....should have it in a couple of minutes.

To answer your question the highest score by a team without a single player scoring a hundred was 605 by Victoria over 50 years ago. 6 Players plus the extras made it to and past 50 but nobody converted to 100. Two players made it into the 90's but neither could score those few more runs to take them into 3 figures. |

Sorry JP again i failed to answer your question (or at least not fully) so here are the highest totals ever scored by a team (single innings total) in Test Cricket: India hold the record for the highest ever single innings total by a team in Test cricket. 1976-1977 India v New Zealand - 2nd Test Green Park (18/11/1976) with the first innings total by India 524 for 9 off 168 overs at a rate of 3.12 oer over the highest in history without any single player making it into 3 figures. Every signle player however who batted and the extras made it into double figures with the highest score 70 by Amarnath and Gavaskar adding 60 at the top. The match then went on to be drawn. Following that was South Africa's 517 against Australia back in 1998. 1997-1998 Australia v South Africa - 3rd Test Adelaide Oval (30/01/1998) with South Africa 517 all out in the first innings off 166 overs at 3.11 per over. Gary Kirsten 77 at the top and Hansie followed with 73 but McMillan was actually the top scorer with 87 at number 7. Everybody was out and all 11 batsmen took the crease with only Rhodes failing to make double figures with 11 extras being scored. Then after that comes Pakistan who totalled exactly 500 against Australia. 1981-1982 Australia v Pakistan - 3rd Test Melbourne Cricket Ground (11/12/1981) with Pakistan scoring 500 for 8 declared in their first innings with Nazar top scoring with 95 at the top and Zaheer Abbas hitting 90 at number 5. Pakistan won the match by an innings and 82 runs so they didn't bat again and ironically when Australia responded in their first innings Graeme Wood actually managed to score exactly 100 before being dismissed so somebody did make it to 3 figures in that match! Yardley did manage to 7 for 187 for Australia with the ball so he ended up taking all but one wicket in the match though that would be little consolation with the thumping his side took but he was named MOTM. Then comes one of more recent notoriaty. Bangladesh of all teams (yes that's Bangladesh) scored 488 against Zimbabwe in their first ever Test match victory! 2004-2005 Bangladesh v Zimbabwe - 1st Test Chittagong Stadium (06/01/2005) saw Bangladesh total 488 in their first innings captain Habibul Bashar scoring 94 Rajin Saleh getting 89 to his name. Normally i wouldn't go into such detail JP but seeing as i've kept you waiting for so long it seems only fair! Sorry about the delay again. |

Brian Lara's overall record at the Antigua Recreation Ground, St John's, Antigua is as follows: He has played in 12 matches and scored 1628 runs at an average of 90 with a highest score of 400 not out. He has scored 6 50's and 4 hundreds. His record at the Antigua Recreation Ground, St John's, Antigua against England alone is truly astronimical and is of truly mind numbing capacity. Against England at that ground he has played 3 matches in which he has scored an incomprehendable 864 runs at a mind blowing average of 432! Oh and that incidently is the single greatest record by an individual by a single player against a specific nation at one single stadium or venue. |

I have been looking for the following statistics. I need the batting averages of Tendulkar (from 1999 world cup to till date) I need his batting averages against all the countries Please don’t include his scores from the following matches because I personally feel playing good/bad in these matches does not help the team anyways.

Given the official test status of the recent Australia v ICC XI 'test' in Sydney, with results counting towards players' records, I was wondering if you had comprehensive figures for World Series Cricket and the 1971/72 World tour of Australia. It would be interesting to see the revised records of players such as Ian Chappell, who made 4 centuries in the 1971/72 series, as well as Barry Richards, who only played 4 official tests but dominated in World Series Cricket. Not to forget Dennis Lillee, who excelled in both unofficial series.
