5 ODI's and 3 test matches, could we see the South Africans stand up from the dirt and play cricket the way they can?

I hope so Titan , I've got a 5 day ticket for Newlands!!

To compete , SA need Kallis , Nel and Ntini at their very best. No McGrath is a bonus for the home side , but in circumstances that no-one ever wants to see.

Smith usually scores heavily at Newlands , as does Gibbs and Kallis - they'll need to , too! My hope is Smith wins the toss and bats...and they get over 400 - it'll be a good contest then.

Of course a win in the one day series won't do any harm either , but I think the visitors are too strong.

The 1st test is at Newlands , Prince's home ground , he'll get the nod , I'm sure.

Yes Sledger , I think Prince will get the nod, if there is a choiche between two players you have to expect they will choose the colored player, with the situation in our country!

SA need a total change of heart, I think they must come out from the first ball all guns blazing, (like England in the ashes) play hard and with no mercy at all.AB de Villiers will maybe help at the top of the order for the ODI's he has been in wonderful form lately!

That's the biggest mystery Titan - just why has he been left out for so long? He scores quickly , is a fine fielder and has great hands - he's perfect for the one day format!

As always here in SA , we have more to say about team selection than performance - that holds true for both cricket and rugby!

By the way Sledger I suppose you were pretty happy about your boys the Cobras beaten us on Saturday? I still think it is stupid to play a six or seven over game, they should have waited till sunday, but I suppose TV ratings and schedules are more important.

How do you think the Stormers will do?

20-20 is silly mate , 7 over matches is plain daft!! The Cobras are garbage - they'll get murdered by the Eagles.

Tough game on Saturday , I think the Waratars are too strong. The win against the Cats meant nothing , the Cats were terrible!

Australia squad for the one dayers:

Adam Gilchrist (wk), Simon Katich, Ricky Ponting (capt), Damien Martyn, Andrew Symonds, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Shane Watson, Brad Hogg, Brett Lee, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark, Mick Lewis, Mitchell Johnson

Return of Watson, no place for Hopes, Dorey or Jaques. Johnson travels, which has provoked some interesting responses from people who don't think he has the record to justify his place in the squad.

It's his fielding that isn't up to scratch, leading the selectors to not select him, apparently.

There is  not a lot wrong with Jaques' fielding, he is a good short leg and slipper, but the AUS team sets so many high standards.

Yeah especially with the batting. With simon Katich making a century, it now seems that there is no room at all for poor Phil Jacques. They have 7 really good batsman in ODI's now

Australia's back-up bowling however was uninspirational in the vb series, I am talking about the younger players. It looks like it will be a long time till the australians replace players like McGrath and Warne

The batting, fielding and Brett lee will keep SA at bay.

And Jason Gillespie, with his experience on South African conditions. He just took another five-wicket haul against Queensland in the domestic tournament.

I think he'll be back for this test series of SA.

Ricky Ponting is already starting with the war of words rating South - Africa and New Zealand the worst for crowd behavior. Can he realy make a statement like that, after we have seen the behavior of the aussie fans during the summer??

ponting isn't going to change his bat for the ODI's, and then apparently he is going to remove the graphite himself before the tests,

I'll be very interested to see what the tracks are like for the tests!

Up north the weather's been very wet , so could be underprepared and slow. In CT it's been very hot - the pitch should be a belter !!

i dont think nothing much will change, Lee will continue from where he left of...Smith will be under more pressure from the home crowd -he promised that S.A would bounce back, now he has to back up what he said with the bat...

how are the injured players doing Ntini, Kallis , Nel are they playin??

49.6 Mortaza to Taylor, SIX!!, another full toss outside off, Taylor goes underneath it and lofts it over long on,Zimbabwe has won it!!!!

shame, I'd have so enjoyed watching Kallis in the Pro20 blasting his way to 14 not out off 86 deliveries
