Good game for the Irish though, they lost no respect from my part. They seem decent, have a handy attack and a couple of good batsmen. Professionalism will go a long way for them and they are starting to implement that. Surely they are doing it better than the Kenyans, the once '11th test side' in the world, and that will mean test status within the next 5 years.

The second part of this tour, the ODI's have begun and although BAN batted well for 250, their bowlers were taken apart by Ian Bell and Andrew Strauss. Bell makes a very good come back into the limited overs side. I always rated him, I think he is a good player across all formats (perhaps excluding T20's)

Bangladesh forced to fly in replacement because 2 regular are out for the rest of the series. Ashraful is back, gosh, I hope he plays and make runs because he's one of the best looking batsman ever when he plays well. For Crickets sake, I just wished this guy could have batted more sensibly and be more successful.

Hopefully BAN will put up a good fight, it seems that they have now lost 20 consecutive ODI's which is quite poor really. can't believe that a team which has so much talent as in Shakib, Mortaza, Ashraful Tamim and even others like Rahim , Mahmudullah, Siddique, Aftab ... can't win a game!!! Each of these players is capable of winning games on his own, It is astonishing that they have lost 20 games straight with these set of players!

Well done Bangladesh today, finally breaking their losing streak. Their joy at the end was great to see and hopefully they can learn a lot from it about closing out matches.
And they have managed to win a match while the series is still alive, which is more than can be said of the last team that played an ODI series here a couple of weeks ago.

What a match. As i have said before that if top 6 cant win it i dont think 7,8,9 and 10 will just another proof. I dont think there should be any place for Wright he is just a crap player. Congrats to Bangladesh for winning the match i hope they win the series.

Bangladesh slaughtered today, mainly by Bopara who was in T20 mood.

Mainly Bopara SW ? I think Strauss and Trott might have something to say about that!

4 wickets for Bopara Sledge!
BAN shown their place by a determined England team, nonetheless BAN will be happy with that one win while ENG will have tougher teams to face in the coming days.

Yep , he took 4 late wickets - his gentle medium pacers won't trouble the top order Sam. Not that he gets much of a chance , I don't think Strauss rates his seamers that highly.

His bowling seems much improved though, I noticed that when I went to the England Lions v India A game at Grace Road the other week. What I would also say that in a game where Trott and Bell were also playing, he looked the best batsman on show for the time he was at the crease.
His time will definitely come, he's got far too much ability for that not to happen. Possibly even quite soon too - if you compare him to Luke Wright, his bowling is a little bit worse than Wrights, his fielding a fair bit worse, but his batting is light years ahead, and considering Wright only bowls here and there and is clearly too high in the order at 6, it would hardly be the most illogical swap.

How does Bopara compare to Watson?

I agree sledge, Clobs is spot on, Bopara shouold be playing ahead of Wright very soon. by the way, the misery continues for Bangladesh as they lose very easily to Ireland, now that's a bit of a surprise because surely BAN are a better side. May be they are finding it very very difficult to adjust to the english conditions.

i think its great how ireland beat bangaladesh. espeically with 7 wickets left and 5 overs to go. id be even more excited if scotland were to do it next monday but i seriously doubt it.
I agree about bopara getting in ahead off wright personally i dont rate wright at all i dont even no how he got in the team. bowl average off 39 and bating off 21 surely there is better than that out there?

I think Flower likes Wright's work ethic. When they were here last time I noticed that Wright did an awful lot of bowling on each of the 5 days of the test and he wasn't in theside. He seems a good team man , good company and up for a laugh - something not to be sniffed at in these times of nonstop cricket. Bopara will get back , maybe sooner than we think. Those three successive centuries might have gone to his head and he thought he'd arrived. Being returned to the ranks hasn't done him any harm and some seriously hard work there is paying dividends again.

Bangladesh's so called 'historic victory' against England is followed by a comprehensive loss against a non test side (Ireland). Enough said.

Ireland is the most impressive minnow side i've come across in my time, no joke! If they can keep their players from sneaking off to England, they might challenge the bigger boys more often.

Ireland looked good against the Aussies too Spinny! I definitely think they play with a great deal of cohesion, they certainly look a tight knit side. A lot of that would come down to the fact that they play local players, unlike a couple of the other minnow sides who have a team full of ex-pats, like Canada (although there are a couple of overseas born players in the Ireland side). Nonetheless, they have pure , locally bred talent and if they can get the game on TV more often and have greater exposure to the public then it could certainly become a top 5 sport in Ireland - especially if they do well. Cricket , at an international level, is played all year around, more often then say Rugby which is probably Ireland's best sport internationally (and football, as they narrowly missed out on World Cup qualification due to the infamous Henry handball). Outside of hurling and gaelic football, cricket could well become the biggest sport in Ireland in 10 years time. I also think it's a good market for cricket. Why is it that only one team in Europe (i.e. England) plays at test level?

Right Milky, if players like Eoin Morgan and Ed Joyce play for Ireland the team will be more successful but then from players point of view it is always good to opt playing for England. I too like Ireland because they play home grown players unlike other minnow nations. (NET also play a lot of home grown players though)
by the way good to see BAN winning the second ODI and avoiding an embarrassing series defeat. Tamim Iqbal is a diamond in this Bangladeshi team.

Afghanistan aint upset none of the biggers boys yet or posed a threat to any of them as yet so they're still far behind Ireland as far as impressive come. I'm sure I can be a force if I play against those smaller sides, no offense.
