People will forget it when they get better. Anyhow, their spin attack is good, Shakib has skills, mixes flight with over spinners and side spinners. Madmullah has excellent change of flight, has a very good action as well, uses side spin, hits the seam and Enamul uses both over spin and side spin, has a good arm ball but is lacking in turn a bit for me.
Their batting is the worry and their fast bowlers needs to learn a bit more. I can see their fast bowlers travelling all around the park in the ODI's because it's gonna be either Dale Richards or even if they bring back the bigger boys, they have Gayle to deal with. Spinners maybe on in 4 overs I reckon.

Bangladesh needs another 104 runs with 6 wickets in hand. This is probably the best I've seen Sammy bowl, he's getting the ball to move about and Roach is a really attacking option.

BAN win by 4 wickets and have won their 2nd ever test series and their first overseas. no matter how trivial this was. well done to them.
He took 8 wickets in the match and then scored a match winning 96* to steer his team home. just as I said earlier, Shakib al Hasan is truely a world class player.

Mortaza is good too, sadly he is out of the tour with knee injury. I would like to see the real west indies team playing in bangladesh, it might be a really good series.

Hey Rifat, where you been all along - hope you really cherished the moment, nevermind if it wasn't the full strength side, a win is a win, he he.
Anyhow, as usual, there are positives to take away from a series. Nothing really needs to be said of Shakib, we all know he's class, he bats extremely positively and Mohammed Ashraful needs to do the same and stop trying to bat long, just let out that natural game of his. He's done miserably worse by trying to stay at the crease. About the spinners, I think they have a good duo in Shakib and Madmullah. Nevermind how ordinary most of the West Indians were against spin, I think madmullah is a clever bowler with his flight and he gets a bit of bounce due to his action and landing the ball a bit on the seam.
Their seamers needs to learn a bit still, you just can't bowl anywhere short on West Indians pitches nowadays. They have to be directed to the head or ribs area to cause any great concern, anything else and they're gonna go back to the boundary. The batting needs a lot of help though, extremely susceptible to short pitch bowling, as is most sub continent players.
For the Windies, well, the bowling was all right. Sammy bowled very well yesterday, moved the ball around and I like Roach a lot. He reminds of the old Windies pacers. Hostile stuff into the body, then pitch it up, he can move the ball around and is wonderful with the old ball. I think he'd do well in places like Australia, SA and England where there's a lot more help for pacers but he's young and still has more to do in terms of getting more accuracy but I like how he attacks the batsmen.
The batsmen batted brainlessly while a few others where just helpless. Walton and Reifer were a loss cause. Walton was excellent behind the stumps, at least we have two top quality wicket keepers. Richards will be good for ODI's, would like to see him and Gayle open. Phillips should great temperament in the first test but played wrecklessly in the next.
Dowlin for me learnt a lot from these two games. His footworks was amazing in the 2nd test after he got into the 20's and it would be good to see him around in the squad when the bigger boys come back. Bernard surprised me, he batted the spin excellently (maybe it's how he's long) and really swung the ball big but as you know, lack of pace at this stage is a killer.
I think the ODI's would be terrific, both teams love to play their shots.

Guess again zuhair. Windies has named their ODI squad and it's as follows.
Andre Fletcher, Kieran Powell, Dale Richards, Devon Smith, Floyd Reifer, Travis Dowlin, Daren Sammy, David Bernard, Devon Thomas, Rawl Lewis, Nikita Miller, Kemar Roach, Nelon Pascal, Gavin Tonge.
As far as I'm concerned, both teams are on par with batting wise concentration, it can blank out any minute but Windies on paper is more explosive. Fletcher, Powell and Richards are very dangerous players and that's how they'll play, I can guarantee you that. I really want to see Powell play but they might not play him because he's quite young and less experienced than the rest but it's amazing that this guy was dispatching big men all over parks when he was just 16. Reifer is only there for his captaincy which I must say he did a fine job at but for me, that alone shouldn't give you the right to be in a squad, it's not those days anymore.
The line up could be
Richards, Smith, Fletcher, Dowlin, Reifer (has to play as he's already awarded captaincy), Bernard, Sammy, Thomas (WK), Roach, Pascal, Miller.
That leaves out Lewis, Tonge and Powell. Lewis is an ordinary spinner but trust me, his batting is quite good. What Bangladesh has the upper hand with is the spinners and if I were them, I'd just go in with 2 pacers. Well, the fields would be less attacking so the batsmen may play with a bit more freedom but I doubt it. Pascal and Roach will have to make some early damage because there's not a part timing sixth bowler around incase one of the specialist bowler is taking some stick so Bangladesh has another advantage there.
Don't blame me zuhair, I probably had too much to eat recently.

Why is Reifer captain ? Isn't he a 36 year old test failure from 10 years ago who plays club cricket? Is the chief selector his Godfather or something?

Quite right milky. I'd rather they had just given it to Sammy, Reifer is just a waste of space. No use having someone in the side just to tell you what to do and he can't buy 10 runs.

Shakib should bat up at 4 or 5 his captaincy was really impressive.
I think Bangladesh needs to drop Ashraful becuz he thinks he is Bradman they cant drop him even bowlers has done better than him in batting he needs a break. I think there is a place for Razzak too in the team he is a decent bowler. First time i saw Roach i knew he will be a star and SW you said he has no ball problem but he only once bowled a no ball thats great.

He's overcome that noball problem it seems, in regional cricket this year, he bowled 14 in one game and usually bowled no less than 4. He's gonna be a star, some people who aren't supporting this team back here is saying he'll take stick against the Aussie but me thinks if he gets on pitches with pace and bounce, he'd damage some batsmen around the world. He can hit 90 MPH. I know his accuracy isn't top class at the moment but so is Johnson and he still takes wickets. His action pulls down on the ball fast and that makes him hard to pick up.

to be honest I think the bowling of this WI team is right up there. only Taylor is missed, no one else realy. Batting is a BIG BIG problem though and it is good to see Fletcher and Smith in he line up. pity that even guys like Darren Bravo and Lendl Simmons have gone on strike.
what about Chattergoon spin? is he no longer in the reckoning?
coming to BAN, I think Ashraful should stay. yes he has failed but in this team they will surely need him. They will miss Mortaza big time in the ODI's but I;d still expect BAN to win.

Chattergoon was recently selected for the A team game against Bangladesh. Word is he was offered to captain the team will all the big guns pulled out but he didn't accept, that was talks though, not sure how true it is but hey, all the things I've been hearing lately through the fans have turned out true. Some said Smith accepted for the Test but couldn't make it in time so he'll be there for the ODI's and it happened. They even said couple Jamaicans had offered to come back for the second test, not sure if one was Daren Powell who declined from the first test but look, he's in the CT provisional squad.
I think the Windies batting will pull through the ODI's but they really need back Gayle, Sarwan and Shiv to stand any chance in Tests, especially the Guyanese duo. It's sad to say that the only batsman that looks as capable as those 3 is Daren Bravo but he's followed the others. And Sam, you forget Fidel Edwards too, he's a must in the line up.
And Bangladesh will miss Mortaza surely, not only can he bowl well, he can really strike the ball and propel the late order rally.

Sam why do you think Batting is a big problem? yes they dont have Gayle, Sarwan and Chanderpaul but still i think they are a decent team.
Smith
Richards
Barath
Powell
Fletcher
Bernard
Browne
Sammy
Austin
Roach
Edwards
SW i think he will trouble any good batsmen he looks like he wants to play unlike some of other players who just are passing their time by playing.
Sam why should Ashraful stay? If you are the captain and a guy keeps failing like that will you play him? last 13 series he has only 3 tons all against SL and has not scored a single fifty which is poor i can do better than him any day.

wonderful news this!!! great to see Gayle and co. back. Yes now is the real chance for BAN to show their talent.
what does this mean for the CT though? a provisional 30 man squad has already been sent so can it be changed now???
Regarding Ashraful, mystery normally I;'d have dropped him but we know that in BAN there aren't enough batsmen who can claim to be as good as him or for that matter are really challenging him for that spot. on his day Ashraful is as good as anybody, so as of now I'd rather stick with him.

He just plays on reputation. He is talented no doubt but very seldom has he translated it into something substantial. Alok Kapali, Rajen Saleh and Shharyar Nafis are much better guys imo.

Well, I'm not to sure yet if the Windies has changed the squad because they already named a 14 man squad for the first two ODI's I think.
Anyhow, if the 'bigger boys' do play, it's a whitewash on the cards for Bangladesh, can't see nothing else, revenge time.
EDIT: Ok folks, just learnt that the squad will exclude Gayle and co for the first two ODI's. Good chance for those newbies to try and make a name for themselves and put up themselves for contention for when a full squad is ready to be chosen again. Good balls shown by the WICB, let them feel it, show them that you can do without them. The reason i'm saying this is because there's a lot of West Indians that when they get good, they feel you have to play them and then their attitude gets all messed up. I'm not happy with the situation but if this is what it takes to bring them to their senses, so be it.

BAN 246/9 in 50 overs. Ashraful finally scored a half century but it was a very cautious innings. Shakib once again scored 54 and good contributions from Mahmudullah and Siddique.
for WI it was Kemar Roach once again getting his first 5 wicket haul in ODI cricket. Pascal wasn't impressive at all going for 2 runs in his 4 overs!
should be an interesting chase this, WI will need a good start.

I think BAN should win it 246 against this lineup is too much and Roach again bowled well. I agree Sam Pascal was not impressive i think he needs time before playing for the Windies.

Shakib has a good captaincy record so far! He bowled Rasel the quick, and then 4 spinners in a row and then another medium bowler. They need one more pacer I think, 4 spinners - and all finger spinners, is too much and is a strategy that won't work against top sides. Shakib, Mahmudullah and Razzak are all playing well though and Bang have never struggled to find a decent spinner and they are working with their strengths which is the positive thing. I still think that Ireland would annihalte Bangladesh in a test match, especially if all their players in England who are trying to play for England come back and play for Ireland (like Ed Joyce, Eion Morgan, etc).

I think Windies made a mistake by bowling first when your strength is bowling chasing is not a good idea plus playing so many bowlers who can bat is horrible and the captain Reifer does not know how to bat. Shakib's captaincy is good he loves to lead from the front unlike other Ban captains.
