Ricky Ponting of course. He is like an aggressor, he helps the team out when they are in trouble, like if its 2-3, he turns the score into 2-200.(A great example of this is the 2nd VB series final at the SCG against Sri Lanka) This is why he is so good at no.3.

I would say Rahul Dravid because many great cricketers have agreed that he is one of the best no.3 batsmen of his time.

Maybe Rahul Dravid is a better batsman than Ricky Ponting. But Ponting is better NO.3 batsman than Dravid.

If dravid is an overall better batsman than ponting, how can ponting be a better no.3 batsman?

we shouldn't compare the two. they r both world class players.both scoring brilliantly in odi's and tests.both captaing the side.their avg is also similar.

Yeh you are right, but you can only comapre world class players with other world class players. I actaully think that this is one of the better topics of comparison and contrast.

dravid may be a better overall batsman, but maybe his best position isn't no.3 ! i said ponting becuase he seems so hard to get out, but scores at such a rate aswell!

i don't think kallis is a no.3 becuase of the way he plays, and also i wouldnt want one of the worlds best batsman in 2nd ball of the innings!

its ponting guys, dravid really don't stick to that # 3 spot. he is at 4, 5 & 6 at times but ponting is at 3 all the time and what a great player he is.

InODI's Dravid comes lower down the order. That's why he has not been scoring more easily. He should come back to no.3 spot and start again. If Dravid was always at no.3 then he would have made more 100's and more runs Ponting.

It's Ganguly's fault to have put him at a lower position during his captaincy. After that he has always come down the order. Now he is coming up once in a while which is better.

well if u look at pontings and dravids strike rates they are almost identical, so how can u say dravid scores too slowly, he does tend to say at the crease longer than ponting but they play at about e same pace according to stats

In the match between England and India, right now he is on 37 of 102. If Ricky Ponting faced 102 ball in a test match, he would be on 60-70.

See, Ponting's strike rate is better than Dravid's.

Dravid has a strike rate of 71 in ODI right?

 Thats not good enough
