And i did not say Dhoni is a crap, but i said sometimes he feels like it behind the stumps. Of course he is not a regular crap in the sense of this word. He is really a good discovery for India and spectators all around the world.

What are you talking about Krisdey. Akmal has limited cricket shots?????? Well watch him closely mate, he has exhibited great variety of so many good cricketing shots with perfection of a batsman. He is not a pinch hitter like Dhoni or Afridi. His keeping norms are also much higher than Dhoni. Dhoni no doubt is a great future prospect with a lot of talent, but yet he has to improve a lot specially his keeping behind the wicket. Because Wicket Keeper_Batsman is always preffered over Batsman-Wicketkeeper. And also Dhoni needs to have a good hair cut or he has his power in his long hair like Samson Edited by shan |

thats what I am saying guys ,,, Akmal has been keeping for almost 3 years ,, and just now he is comming in limelight Thats not the case with Dhoni ,, coz right from the word go ,,, he has become a batting sensation ,,,,so his every blooper in wicketkeeping or every failure in batting is criticised as ,,,,, his time is gone. Come on guys ,,, the lad has just come ,,,one year in ODI's and hardly 2nd month in Tests ,,, and already he has made such a huge impact and is being debated so so hot in these forums. That is something to look out for. Okie to all those who are at AWE with Indian revelation DHONI Point 1: Every keeper improves after comming to International areana , coz they get more responsibility and face quality bowlers Point 2: Technique of Dhoni is much much better ,, there is no problem with is technique ,,, Akmal is a technically sound player with limited abilites in batting, but he makes good use of it ,,,, but Dhoni is a gifted player like gilchrist Tell me who can whack Shoaib's bouncer for a flat six like he did at the second test hey saad ,, listen to what Geffory boycott told about Dhoni "the young lad plays with straight bat and has got lot of talent and temperment" Geffory went on further to say that if he can play the same way in English/NZ/Aust pitches then he rates him better than Gilchrist. |

Well, I have checked on cricinfo. And the results are that Akmal has been playing for just above 3 years (in both forms of the game) and Dhoni has been in ODIs for just above a year and in tests for only a month.

Yea, his batting has been outstanding in the past 12 months. He has 7 International centuries in the past 12 months. And in his last 4 matches, he has hit 3 centuries. In this form, he would certainly make the team as a batsman.

I think we need to wait and see how they both perform outside of the subcontinent. From a neutral point of view, right now I'd have Akmal in my team as he seems to be a safer pair of hands and a more reliable bat. That's not to say Dhoni is useless, but he seems to me to hit one big innings then have a quiet game or two but Akmal is developing into a keeper who'd nearly make the team as a batsman.

Ok, you're right, everyone does make mistakes, but is it not true that Akmal is a much, and I mean a MUCH better keeper than Dhoni? That's a fact and no one can argue that. Akmal's batting technique is also better than Dhoni's and that leads me to conclude that Akmal is a better keeper-batsman than Dhoni. |

I stayed up all night to watch Day 1 of the third test and there was no time when Akmal was plumb out. Dhoni, that lazy no good keeper, missed an easy stumping when Akmal was on 80. What a fine display of keeping by Dhoni. The ball was coming straight into his hands and he dropped it and missed an easy, easy, stumping.

Excuses! You know very well that Akmal is miles ahead of Dhoni in keeping. Akmal is an outstanding keeper. |

And when we talk about wicket keeping, Dhoni is far far away in quality from Akmal. Sometimes he feel like crap while keeping. See he missed a huge stumping chance on first day of third test. In batting he is pretty handy and shows great fire works, although he lacks quality cricket shots.

Cut the crap he was plumb on 49 or 59 .... I agree he is a decent good player ,,, but he dosent come anywhere near dhoni in shot making ,,, not even till knee height of dhoni and when comapered to Gilchrist ,,, not even toe height .. |

I agree. Again putting a ton on board in first innings of third test, when Pakistan was in deep deep trouble. What a knot to bring the team out of misery. He is putting tons after tons with far better quality shots than Dhoni. I think he has greater talent with a great variety of quality shots and consistancy. |

Dhoni still can't be called the best keeper-batsman even if he performs well in West Indies...because he needs to improve his keeping.

I'm not going to say anything about how he will perform in West Indies...I don't get to choose that...God does.
Anyway, we will see just how well he performs against a poor West Indies team. I will expect him to perform well against West Indies...they are a weak side. |

he will get to prove himself outside the sub-continent when they go to jamacia and play west indies and dont start saying that hes obviously going to make big scores because west indies are a crap team because india struggle in the west indies |

Dhoni needs to prove himself outside the subcontinent.
But I have to admit, he's in great form with the bat and looks like he's going to be a fine all-rounder (keeper-batsman). |
