Bob Willis, 8 - 43, Headingley, 1981 - difficult to be an Englishman who, having seen that test, wouldn't put that bowling display right up there.
When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat.

The first few wickets are with fantastically hostile bowling, though the last one is always my favourite - middle stump uprooted followed by that grim faced dash off the field

So he took 16-fors in each innings..?

Seems our Lankan loving friend has a greater command of the English language - both & each are very different words.

Maybe he had 6 catches dropped in each innings, I know a few bowlers who like to count them as wickets.

I heard about one from Marshall were he had his best of 7/22 against England at Old Trafford. They say the pitch was prepared for spinners and Marshall ripped through them bowling some wicked off cutters.

How about Curtly Ambrose against Australia with his spell of 7/1 against a strong Aussie batting line up. Perhaps the hardest bowler to score off letting Marshall attack at the other end.

Ambrose may not be the greatest fasty ever but if it's one thing, he was hard to put away!

i m sure it was against W.I which Steve Harmision has taken 7 wickets  and gave 12 runs - Pakistan thrashed Harmission inspite of losing against Eng in Eng -- if u talking abt 7 wickets -- i m sure it must bw against W.I - not Pak

@ Wasim Akram -- worth to watch him --- his really bowled well against Aus in 1996/1997 who took 4 wickets while using reverse swing and using different deliveries as well --- and WC 99 against Aus which Wasim won us match with help of 4 wickets --- those were the best bowling performance i have ever seen in my life

You really havent watched much cricket have you.
Judge the player not by their stats, but by their opposition.

he didn't take 7 against them anywhere - though he did take 11 for 76 at Manchester, so your assertion that Pakistan thrashed him is about as accurate as most of your other statements

Makhaya Ntini, 10 wkts at Lords. And during that 438 series, I think it was the 2nd ODI where he demolished Aussies, they were out on 92. He took six wickets that day.

maybe not the obvious choice but one of the finest spells of fast bowling I've ever seen was from Malcolm at the Oval in 1993, he only took 3 wickets but his opening spell to Slater/Taylor was brutal, its the most I've ever seen an opening pair roughed up by genuine explosive pace

you fellas should have had Malcolm as a first choice in the England team for ten years, he was what the poms needed, a strike bowler who could blast out top order Test batsman by beating them for pace

as for the best bowling performance ever seen, Curtly Ambrose 7-25 against Australia at the WACA in 1993, Australia went from 2/80 odd to 119 all out

Malcolm obviously liked the pace and bounce of that Oval pitch . Remember how he demolished the South Africans to level the series by taking 9 second innings wickets.  Seriously quick that day and I still smile at the fearful expressions on Cronje's face!   That'll teach De Villiers to hit him with a short one!

Surely for my time but I haven't seen those great ones of the 80's, only highlights so, can't really make that judgement.
