I V A Richards 189* v England at Old Trafford - not just for the runs but the match situation.
He came in at 11 for 2 and watched the Windies subside to 102 for 7, then 166 for 9 but somehow propelled them to 272 for 9 at the close. |

what abt kapil dev's 175. i haven't seen it and no one ever will see it( because no one has the coverage of that match) but according to the situation he came in i think it might be one of the greatest inns. sledger/clobber might be able to tell us more on it.

There are two ways of looking at this one in my opinion - he came in at 9 for 4 so he was under great pressure which makes his innings remarkable, as does scoring 175* out of 266. Conversely of course people will point out that it was only against Zimbabwe. Edited by Clobber |

Pontings Innings in the 2003 World Cup Final. (can't remember any oldies The way he just unleashed the fury soon after he made his half-century was something else. His last 94 runs came from just 59 balls, a truly magnificent display of strokeplay, and big hitting. I don't think Harbhajan will have very good memories of that match. |

Ashley Giles took three good wickets, outbowling Shane Warne who matched him in the scorebook, but not on the field

i am going to have to say Gibbs 175, as this is one of the only big innings ive seen live, followed by pontings in the same match, but you cant take anything from smith either! i would also rate kluseners in the semi final of 99 world cup, as sa could have lost that match without his innings! |

Yeh i would also say Gibbs' 175. It was something very special, along with Pontings' innings too.
