I have one I do in my room - throw a ball at one corner of the room, where two walls meet at a right angle - aim for the join, but most times it'll hit one wall before the other, then the other and bounce back at an unpredictable angle. You can choose how hard/high you throw the ball (I suggest a tennis ball or lighter).

I'm sure I drive my flatmates mad with this!

Yea, I got one. You need another person for this. Sit facing each other. The other person should be holding a bat. You throw a tennis ball (unless you're doing it outdoors) at the bat and he hits it back at you and it will help make your stimulus response faster.

Every training session, my coach takes out a Krazy Catcher, It is a very good item because there are two sides: sane and insane. Sane isnt as hard as insane, sane is just throwing the ball at the net and bounces back to you. Insane side goes everywhere, good for slip pratise.

I have one of those large bouncy balls that you sit and bounce on

I throw a tennis ball at it and catch the wild deflection

I got another tip. I do this in my living room all the time and really makes my mom angry. WARNING: Only do this if you have a carpet floor (you can't really call it a floor if it's carpet...whatever).

Anyway stand at one end of the room. throw the ball randomly and dive and try and catch it. It'll get the fear out of you of diving...if you're afraid of diving.

It's better if you throw it against a wall and then dive to catch it - make it so you don't move until it's hit the wall for added 'realism.'

(This may have been what you meant, I wasn't sure.)

Well, no, that's not what I meant.

You're saying that the ball should bounce off the wall first, and then you should dive for it?

Another variation - throw the ball at the wall with your eyes shut and open them when it hits the wall to test your refelexes.

Just remember to do it with a soft ball, not a cricket ball becuase if you misjudge the bounce or something then.......

Ofcourse, Using a soft ball is also much more safer for the things around you if you are doing catching drills in your living room or bedroom like me.

I did the same thing 2 weeks ago at my aunts house and she didn't say anything to me, since I was a guest.

But I managed to temporarily fix the picture frame and hang it back up.

Our coach does that too, except we play indoors. He sometimes drives the ball really hard on the ground towards us or somewhere in our direction. He sometimes gives a fast catch that is coming at us or in our direction. And sometimes he gives a surprise slow catch and you have to be ready for it, so you can run, dive, and catch it.

in Dubai for my uni we practice but not in great depth like you guys....I guess since were quite talented that could be the reason...but I would always like to go through drills the same way you guys do...It just makes you more confident when you go into a real tough game..having practiced and all that!

I broke a picture frame at my aunts house too. I was playing catch and I threw the ball...and it hit the picture frame.

I have a simple but effective catching drill:
You choose a section of the wall that is fairly big, you stand in front of the wall, and someone else stands behind you. The person at the back throws the ball anywhere on the wall and the person in front (having not looked where the other person is going to throw it) has to catch it after it has deflected off the wall. If you are more confident reduce the gap between you and the wall. This is ideal for playing the back garden.
I took 5-14 in 1 match last season, turned out 2 be the best bowling figures for 1 match in our entire league :D

Sorry, I haven't bothered trying it yet. I think I'm going to recommend it to my coach for when we have practices.
