The series starts on December 3rd. I think Australia will easily win.

Captain Stephen Fleming is out of the series and Daniel Vettori will lead NZ. All-rounder Andre Adams is also to miss the series.

NZ are probably going to lose.

What do you think?

Yup, Australia favourites for this one after drubbing the World team and New Zealand having been thrashed in South Africa.

Aussie squad: Ricky Ponting (captain), Adam Gilchrist (vice captain), Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark, Michael Clarke, Brad Hodge, Brad Hogg, Michael Hussey, Simon Katich, Michael Lewis, Brett Lee, Andrew Symonds, Cameron White.

Hodge and Lewis the new names in there, as Watson, Martyn, Tait and Hopes all ruled out through injury.

Australia are performing again as the number 1 team and NZ are doing exactly the opposite. Their game is going down and they need to improve it. Australia will probably white wash and demolish NZ.

They are playing against a team that they can match but there is no way that New Zealand can match Australia.

one day cricket is often a lot harder to predict as it takes one small event to affect the entire outcome of the match, and new zealand have proven to be quite competitive against Australia recently. However Australia has a more rightful claim on top spot in the limited overs form of the game and i think they should be too strong for NZ

Australia at home are almost invincible. I think they haven't lost a series at home for 17 years. That is amazing.

Titan, sorry for spelling Hadlee wrong. I mixed it up with chappell. chappell has 2 p's and 2 l's so I thought that Haddlee had to d's... Never mind.

You are right Saad, New Zealand probably do not have even the slightest chance of beating the Australians. However, despite losing the series against South Africa 4-0, many of those games went down the wire and New Zealand can take confidence fron that. If batsmen like Fleming and Bowlers like Bond can step up their performance, we could have an exciting series. But for the most part, Australia are favourites

Well, there again since Fleming is out, I dont think New Zealand stand a chance at all.

Fleming is out and Vettori will be leading the Kiwis. NZ's all-rounder Andre Hall (I think that's his name)is also out of the series so there is no chance that they will win. There is no hope for the Kiwis. They should go to Australia and just let themselves get destroyed.

Nearly Saad, Andre Adams is the New Zealander. I think you're confusing him with Andrew Hall, the South African.

1st ODI, Australia 252/8 (Ponting 63, Katich 54)

NZL 6/1

Absolute thrashing for New Zealand, only making it to 105 all out.

Horrible performance by NZ. They couldn't put up any sort of fight. This is going to be such a boring series...watching Australia dominate as usual.

Aussie 322-5 in their 50 overs in the 2nd ODI - the game is over folks!! A monster 156 by Symonds and a swift 82 by Michael Clarke has surely put this game , and series beyond the hapless Kiwis.

It's a massive score on their slow tracks , even though the square boundaries are very short. 8 6's by Symonds , including 3 in one Cairns over added to the carnage. 7 bowlers used by Vettori and all of 'em went the same way - out of the park!

The Kiwis are making a fist of this and plundering the Aussie bowlers !! Lou Vincent has just fell for a swashbuckling 71 off only 48 balls with 9 4's and 2 6's!!!

Astle still there on 21 and joined by MacMillan on 1

NZ are 95-1 off only 15 overs , can they keep this rate up and cause a major upset?

Wickets falling inevitably when chasing such a huge target.

The Kiwis are now 120-3 after 22 and the required rate up to 7.2

NZ now 204-5 with the big hitters , Cairns (43) and Oram (13) at the crease. There's only 13 overs left and they need to score at 9.15 to the over , a big ask.

Still , if they last the full 13 overs they might get close , Cairns has belted 2 6's already!

Ponting's rattled !! The last three overs have brought 29 overs and Cairns and Oram are still there!

90 needed off 10 overs and Cairns has 59 , Oram 27

If the Kiwis get there you'll here the screams from anywhere on the planet !! It'll be rather quiet in Australia though!!

Hi sledger ,,, good that NZ are making good chase ,,, I just hope they dont loose the way ,,,, Carins has to give to back the treatment to the aussies.I just hope he hits a century ,,,not only for the NZ but also to keep the interest in the series .

I still feel he is the best allrounder ,,, though his stats do not prove it coz he is either bogged down by injuries or inconsistency.

Yep pity that , very tidy over from Lewis though and Cairns had to go for it.

237-6 after 41 McCullum in now and he can hit 'em too , but he's no time to settle....

EDITED (using the right spelling) - They need 72 runs with only 44 balls. If Lance Klusener (is that spelt right?) was here and he was playing for NZ, he could certainly have done it.

McCullum is doing a great job ,, but is there anyone to support him for the other end

He's more stolid than explosive Krisdy and they need almost 2 a ball now......looking like another series win for the convicts.

NZ can't win. They need 36 runs off 22 balls. Thier required run rate is 9.82 and thier run rate is 6.19.
