I don't want to spend too much on a cricket bat and at the same time I would like to get a light bat with great stroke in it as I am an attacking player and play a lot of aerial shots. Your suggestions pls.. I live in the US. Thanks.

well you probably couldn't get any big brand names at that price but I recently got a RNS Larsons Gold Star for a 100 or so and its light with a nice ping.

Maybe you should go for a Pakistani or Indian brand. Often you get a belter if you hand pick yourself.

"New Junior Players grip", thats what it says for the bat posted by scorp. I don't think it is full-sized, and if it is, thats a really good deal. The second one is kashmir willow, and I'm pretty sure the proper kookaburra bats are english willow.

I'm pretty sure not all of them are, just the vast majority. One of my kookaburras is made of kashmir

Go for indian/pakistani bats. The midrange bats there are better in cost/performance than their counter parts in England.
About willow,
G=Grade W=willow B=bleached NB= NOt bleached
kashmir<3rd G Eng W B<3rd G Eng W NB<2nd G Eng W B<2nd G Eng W NB<1st G Eng W B<1st G Eng W NB

All the best bats kookaburra or any other company make are made of English willow.
Kashmir willow bats shouldn't cost much more than 30 pounds.

100 dollers? thts not much, i say try the internet i found a website that has about 20% discount of retail prices an thts minimum! u can get good bat sfor about £60 or £70 about $120, but remeber stuffs generally cheap over in the states especially cricket stuff cus thers not as much demand as ther is over here in sunny old england. shop around ull find some really good deals on usually expensives bats. i got my puma ballistic 4000 for £112, its usually bout 130 upwards

The better the grade, the better the bat looks. It doesnt necessary mean that the bat has a better performence.

I kind of disagree. English willow (East anglia is the best) is definitly lighter so you can get more wood for the same weight.
Have you by chance got a kashmir bat and an english bat? Play 2 identical shots and you should be able to tell the difference.
I do agree that there is verry little difference between Bleached and non bleached willow.

swingking, I could probably get bats cheaper outside of US and Canada. I live in Canada and I think bats here are more expensive since they have to be shipped in from other places.

My mate went to pakistan and he picked up a brilliant bat there for thirty quid. it was some sort of Malik and the middle is brilliant also its quite light for such a big bat.

Just goes to show how badly we're ripped off here in england.
