He's Scottish so of course he is a worthy winner.

I think I would have self destructed if Asif had won.....

Shivranine Chanderpaul for his 149* against India, that was the best I've seen him bat and I'm a HUGE fan of his.

Good call that - I think had it led the West Indies to victory he'd have been in with a better shout.

Watson defenitely deserves it, Canada would have won if it weren't for his 100.

I think 'Player of the Week' this week should be Jacob Oram, two career best performances in a row, including his first ODI century today.
On extended leave...

Without a doubt Jacob Oram. Matthew Hayden should have been caught on 0 but went on to make 117 and was given several chances while Ponting everyone hates him!

But wait I forgot about Marlon Samuels match winning 98 had it been a century he was a clear choice, it's a tough one either Oram,Samuels or Hayden?? I hope batsman don't keep getting picked every week.

I thought Kallis' 50 to win the series for South Africa, but I didn't really see any of the one-dayers so I can't comment on those

Oooo that ones a bit contraversial. I'd have gone for Oram personally, he has had an amazing week.

Oram is seeing it big just now - I expect every New Zealander is hoping this form lasts another 3 months or so!

It just seems near impossible to stop him scoring, I wouldnt like to be a bowler, or captain for that matter, facing him.

-JP- shame you cut off on the 29th.  Oram would have been a shoe in.

Never mind, we won yesterday.  Poor England - very sad to see the change from 05 to 07.  No spine, no spirit and no winning...

I should think Oram will be a contender for next week's award.

That's shocking. Kallis played one of the best innings of his life for practically a whole day and Oram ripped England apart.

No, Oram ripping England apart came too late for last week's award.

So a player's performance can be ultimately judged on the performances of his team mates? I thought a batsman was a better player if he was the stand out talent in a team of amateurs, even if they lose the match anyway. Surely the result is irrelevant and it is the performance itself that should earn the award?
County Sim on extended break until I've got less work and more free time. When I have a specific date, I'll post it in the thread.

If he can carry this form into WC I give New Zealand outside chance. Vetori must be along with Murali the leading two spinners in world cricket.
Judge the player not by their stats, but by their opposition.
