Topic: Cricket World XI Story - IPL Posted: 10 June 2008 at 12:58pm |
|
A little side thread from the main one concerning the Cricket World IPL. Matches, statistics etc will be posted here.
The captains are Bondy, MP12, Samhache and Monty who will bid on Cricket World sim members and real life players just like in the real IPL. After the teams are selected, they play each other twice in a T20 competition using a simulator to produce results and scorecards.
Anyone who is not currently involved with the Cricket World XI sim can join. All you have to do is put down your favoured batting position, whether you are a bowler or batsman, what you bowl and a fielding rating out of 10.

Good stuff. This new thread will allow a clear distinction between the running competitions.
A list of player's will follow and the bidding will begin. I'm really looking forward to this, something exciting, something new! A PM to everyone would kick things off nicely too, MP.
Good luck for the bidding fellow captains!

Well done MP a thorough list of player's to choose from then. The bidding will be very interesting!
I suggest the bidding starts once Samhahce and Monty have realised they're captains and a few others login and view this thread. I also suggest that bidding has deadlines or something similar to make sure it doesnt drag on. It's all very exciting at this point!

Great, we've got a new thread and interest in the sim seems to be good.
Alright, as captains do we need to name our teams??
And, can we bid for multiple players at once??

Can I join here? I am an allrounder. I prefer to bat up the order. Number 4 or an opener. I bowl leg spin or at times medium pace. I would rate my fielding as 8 out of 10.

I think we will. I think we should increase the squad size to 15 (That way nearly all the CWXI players will have a team and actually have a chance play matches). If we do this then it will most likely be something like this:
Minimum and Maximum amount of players allowed from each team.
2-5 CWXI players, 0-3 AUS, 0-3 IND, 0-2 NZ, 0-2 PAK, 0-1 WI, 0-2 SA, 0-2 SRI, 0-1 ENG
We'll need to confirm this though. What does everyone think or should we use a salary cap?

We could use that system but with a salary cap as well to even out the talent. I'm just wanting to get this thing started - where's everyone!!?

Alright then so the last captain is Fishcake.
Now concerning the bidding.
I think we'll use these guideline to buy players:
- You must have 2 CW players in your squad with a maximum of 5
- You can have a maximum of 3 players from both Australia and India
- You can have a maximum of 2 players from South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka
- You can only have a maximum of just 1 players from both England and the West Indies
- You must have a minimum of 15 players (Not including yourself) in your team
- The minimum amount you can bid for a player is $200,000
- You will have $9,000,000 to bid for players ($600,000 per player)
- Bids must be PM'ed to me
- To start each captain will need to name 6 players they want to bid for and the price they are willing to pay. The highest amount will win the player. After each captain has named PM'ed thier 6 bids I will name who has won each player (I won't view any bids until everyone has sent thier bids in, that way I can't cheat)
- After this I'll reveal how much money each team has left and we'll continue the bidding with unlimited bids until each team has either used up all thier money or are happy with thier team.
(I feel like I'm forgetting something)
I guess the bidding will start now (Samhache you'll need to send me those bids again) and hopefully if we all come online this whole bidding process should be finished by Sunday, Monday-ish.
Any questions or something you would like to add?
