Topic: Cricket World XI Story - IPL Posted: 14 June 2008 at 4:12am |
So the first round of bidding is over! I'm happy with getting all the player's I bid on, but I think I paid too much for some of them. It's hard to determine market value and at this point MP has been the best at doing it - 400k for Tendulkar and 500k for Symonds, what a steal!
Now I've got very little money to spend on player's but I'm confident of picking up some bargins in the next round. Best of luck to the other captains in their bidding!

I surprised myself with how well I've done. This round I'll be looking to secure some key players for my team!
All the teams are starting to take shape now. Samhache's got a premium keeper and seam bowler. Bondy's got the top 3 batsman in the world and Monty's got the English-Australian duo in Ponting and Pietersen.
Good luck to all the managers in the next round!

Still a few quality players left to pick from. Shane Warne's still there plus a few other spinners from the Cricket World team. I'm very happy with the way things have gone so far. The biddings been effective with all captains naming thier bids within a half a day. I should be able to build a very good side with the players I have now and I plan on buying more players to establish a solid structure in the batting and bowling department.

I couldn't find any ticks or crosses so I used these instead:
 means within limit
 means limit exceeded
Samhache's team: 2 NZ 1 AUS 5 CW 1 SRI 1 SA 1 PAK 1 WIN (Still need 2 more players though)
MP12's team: 3 CW 3 AUS 3 IND 1 SRI 2 SA 1 WIN 1 NZ 1 PAK
Monty's team: 3 CW 1 AUS 1 ENG 2 SRI 1 WIN 1 PAK 3 IND 2 NZ 1 SA
Bondy's team: 4 AUS 1 NZ 2 SA 2 IND 2 CW 3 PAK 1 WIN 1 ENG
Bondy for going over the budget limit your penalty will be to either sell one of your players to another team meaning you will have 15 players or you can keep the 16th player but will not be able to play any Asian players in your first match (Sehwag, Akhtar, Yousaf, Ganguly, Khan).
I've decided to let you off with the exceeding the Australian limit because I didn't put the limitation warning up before you bid however you will need to sell 1 Australian back to the auction.
For exceeding the amount of Pakistani players in your team, your team will start the tournament on -2 points (Win = 4 points & Loss = 0). You can keep the extra Pakistani player if you wish however if you do sell, your penalty will still apply.

I'm really quite disappointed with my move as captain. I should have kept an eye on which player's I was bidding on and as a result I have penalised my team. Can I sell a Pakistani player back as opposed to an Australian given that I was over the limit for both (because you didn't pick up on it or penalise me)?
If not:
McGrath as the Australia
If so:
Bravo as the player.

Do I need one or two players? Alright if its one then I'll have Shane Warne and shane watson for $200,000 each since noone else is competing against me? Is that under my player limit for Aussies?
