That's true. I'm a batsman who can bowl and not an all rounder. I'm hoping for a good performance with the blade.

Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting join us to dicuss australias first innings

Journalist "First of all i must congratulate both of you and fine centuries today"

Ponting and Hayden " thanks"

Journalist"Matthew i have to say that that 6 is the biggest ive ever seen"

Hayden "Thanks, i admired that one myself, i had it in my mind to try and go over the top from his previous ball, but that one really came out of the middle"

Journalist - "So Ricky you ended up declaring at 567, some say you could have gone on abit longer than that, what were your thoughts when declaring"

Ponting " I think it was the right thing to do, our run rate was especially high and i think the longer we left it the less chance we had of winning the game, i think weve now got to go out there with the new ball and attack them from the off"

Journalist "Thanks alot lads, and good look in the next innings"

OK then Robbie, let's get up and at 'em.  But remember they've come to watch me - not you, so no heroics eh?
When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat.

Clarkey must still be wondering how I got my 120 kg frame to fly through the air in the outfield to take that catch. ;-)

Throw them both out.....they havent even started batting together yet and already they are squabbling.  Watch one of them run the other one out.

How about working together and both getting hundreds?
Me, MP12 and Scuudz don't want to have to pick up the pieces because you two decided to play a game of who's the better batsman.

It's called banter between openers - strewth it's a hard enough job without all this seriousness.  Anyway, I'm off to put chalk on my pads.

I dont care if the two of you pat each others backs after every single.  I just dont want to have to go into bat until after lunch on the 4th day.

So when does our innings start? W.G. and robbie if you need any help you can always rely on the rest of us, but I'm sure you two will do great and maybe I wont even have to bat at all! Well good luck you two, and if any of you would like to kill time in the dressing rooms, I'll bring a pack of cards!

Congradulations W.G. Fantastic effort, we had a good partnership going. I was pleased with my knock of 84! It seems that we were excellent players of spinners but yet the pace bowlers knocked us over. Were only 86 runs behind but I have faith in the bowlers to bowl them out quickly! I wonder if my 6 was bigger than Hayden's!

Nice little innings from me at the end there - slogger and I will have frustrated the Aussies, hopefully we can get amongst the wickets now.

I'll try and say something good and encouraging for all our players.

W.G.: Well all you can say was how was your heart when you were in the 190's? Great knock! Fantastic!

Robbie: Fantastic strike rate, we could use you in the next innings to score runs as quickly as possiable. Maybe you can grab some quick wickets as well.

NewBowler: We all have bad days sometimes, maybe you were just a little shocked to be coming into the game so early. I think you'le make a big impact either fielding or batting. I'm sorry that I peaked at your cards while you were out batting .

scuudz: Fantastic 50! Continuing the work after I left and piling on the runs. Keep up the good work!

Freddie: You must have had a lot of nerves to be facing the hat-trick ball. Your bowling should prove useful tommorow, on a spinners pitch.

Slogger72NO: It's not that easy batting with the tail, but you stuck with it and remained not out at the end. Your keeping skills are fantastic!

Kerm: Great bowling in the first innings, bowling tight overs and taking 2 important wickets. You will be very important early tommorow.

Fishcake: Your bowling will be extremly important tommorow and you showed lots of courage, staying in for as long as you can.

Pieterson Fan: Great batting at the end, the more runs we can get the better, your bowling skills in the first innings took great stamania, to bowl 54 overs.

JP: Economical bowling with quick wickets, should prove a fantastic combination with Fishcake tommorow. Your pinch hitting at number 11 might see you moved up the order!
