Fantasy Cricket - Cricket World Ashes Challenge

How to play:

You have to pick just 5 players, from 5 sections (one player from each section) – which will make up your ‘team’ of 2 batsmen, 2 bowlers and an all-rounder (wicket-keepers are classed as all-rounders.) These players will then score points according to how they perform in each Ashes Test.

You will also be required to submit a tie-breaker, for which you will have to guess the amount of runs the top run scorer in the series will make.

Players will score points throughout the 5 Test series, but each Ashes Test will be treated as a separate competition, so you can join in at any time and still be in a with a chance of winning.

Prizes are as follows:

Main competition:

Winner: The Ashes 2005 Boxed DVD set + a copy of EA Sports Cricket 2007 for PlayStation 2

Runner-up: Year’s subscription to CW magazine

Third place: Choice of a cricket DVD or book from our collection

Each individual Test:

Winner: A copy of EA Sports Cricket 2007* for PlayStation 2

Simply e-mail (jp@cricketworldmail.com) or PM me your team with your name, and email address (if you wish to receive email updates of scores and the leader board.) Feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have.

Section A: Frontline Batsmen: Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Justin Langer, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting

Section B: Other Batsmen: Paul Collingwood, Ed Joyce, Alastair Cook, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Phil Jaques, Adam Voges

Section C: All-Rounders and Wicket-Keepers: Andrew Flintoff, Geraint Jones, Chris Read, Shane Watson, Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds

Section D: Front-line Bowlers: Stephen Harmison, Matthew Hoggard, Ashley Giles, Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee, Shane Warne

Section E: Other Bowlers: Monty Panesar, James Anderson, Sajid Mahmood, Stuart Clark, Shaun Tait, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Bracken, Stuart MacGill

PLEASE NOTE: YOU MAY PICK A MAXIMUM OF THREE PLAYERS FROM EACH COUNTRY

Scoring system:

Sections A & B

Batsmen score 1 point for every 5 runs scored, with a 10 point bonus for any century, 20 points for a double century and so on and so forth. Batsmen will score 2 points for any catch taken.

Section C

All-Rounders will score 1 point for every 4 runs scored, with a 10 point bonus for any century, 20 points for a double century and so on. They will score 3 points for any wicket taken, with a 5 point bonus for a 5 wicket haul. Wicket-keepers will score 3 points per catch and 5 points per stumping, all other players will score 2 points per catch.

Sections D & E

Bowlers will score 2 points per wicket taken, with a 5 point bonus for 5 wickets in an innings. They will also score 2 points per catch taken.

Points to note:

I will allow changes to selections up until midnight on 10th Decemberr (GMT).

After each Test match, you will have the opportunity to make one change to your team, and in the case that one of your players is ruled out through injury from the rest of the series, or flies home, you may also make a change to cover this.

Deadlines for transfer changes will be announced as the series progresses.

Top run scorer usually means one player, so I'd go with that.

Bit unlucky there mate. Remember though, you could have changed your team right up until the start of the game.

One change allowed between Tests though.

It's up to you to work it which of those names correspond to forum names...

...remember, it's not just being run from here, it's from the competitions site.

Which, while I'm at it, is here, and well worth checking out.

Yup, you can enter a team for the second Test, but if I were you I'd wait until this one is finished just in case of injuries or anything.
