So does that mean curtains for Joe Denly?

Keisweeter cut his teeth at the same school as Gibbs - Bishops.  That he was dropped 4 times detracts somewhat , but there's no doubt that he's brought some much needed oomph to the top of the order.  His ball striking is fantastic and I see him playing as a specialist batsman and Denly will have to return to the ranks.  Exciting times ahead and if Stephen Moore makes runs quickly from the start of the county season , what chances that 4 of the top 5 of England were all South African bred ? 

Michael Lumb will probably be in at least one of the limited overs sides before this year is out too

There are plenty more South African-born players we can pick yet - Greg Smith, Chris Meaker, Jacques Rudolph for example! I'm sure there are more.

He might have to wait another year. Let's not forget we could pick both Morgan and Joyce to at least ensure a non-English team. Boyd Rankin is on the Performance Programme too. Throw in a couple of promising Scotsmen (Berrington, Goudie, perhaps) and voilá!

Claude Henderson is now a British citizen as well.

I think there was a section of crowd that applauded the effort - but yes, the overall response was disappointing - reminded me of a Kolkatta crowd of yesteryears.

I think it won't be long before Morgan is seen in whites for England - he is too good a player to miss test cricket.

I got to admit, I didn't see Morgan as this good a player when I first saw him but lately he's played superb.  His strokes are very clean and goes about his business in hardly any hurry but yet he can still sky-rocket his scoring rate when needed.  He's added much more quality to what was otherwise a poor ODI team along with the winless Windies.  Yeah, Graeme Swann too has been huge for England.

KP cant and wont change his batting style matey - he is might effective with the way he bats and there is no reason why he should change it.

The slow left armers are getting to KP and it's difficult to understand why. He's been successful against all forms of bowling (like all quality batsmen) and surely it's only a matter of time before he sorts himself out. That he got out to a part-timer must have been particularly galling - I expect him to score big in the upcoming test.
      Other observations - well Trott came back strongly after a poor finish to the South African series and that ton could wells ecure the vacant opening birth alongside Cook. Carberry might have blown the one chance to impress unless the English bowlers can get through the Bangladeshis very quickly this morning. Tredwell did himself no harm at all , although two right handed off spinners surely won't make the trip to Australia later this year. But well done to him , he should make his test debut on Friday.
        Good news ahead of the test is that both Onions and Broad bowled in the nets and look likely to start on Friday. Is it the end of the road for Sidebottom ? I think it might well be - he's a liability nowadays , sad but true , his body has finally given out on him.

Agree but still is a pretty horrible bowling analysis JP - must be top on the list of conceding 100 runs this early

I've seen that before in county cricket , someone (JP will know who!) scored a ton off 20-odd balls!  Because every ball was a slow full toss , the powers that be decided that the record for fastest county championship century would not stand.
       What I took to be significant was the promotion in the batting order of Bresnan and Tredwell . That suggested to me that they both will start , come Friday.

I like the look of Finn Clobs - he's got some mongrel in him and this isn't a bad place to make his debut.
