One of my favourite would have to b the last run out in the 99 world cup semi final between australia and south africa..Omg! Easily one of d most thrilling matches in d world cup it had a perfect finish(or mayb not so perfect for a south african)..i hav goosebumps each time i see that match even now.. So what are your most memorable moments of d cup?i have plenty more but i'd share them later i think.. Edited by sporty - 09 February 2011 at 9:14pm |

Canada beating Bangladesh, Davo's century, Gilchrist century in the final. (2003 and 2007 were the only world cups I actually watched)

Hey Sporty - before Sledge jumps in - let me tell you. Use 'the' instead of 'd'.
My favorite moments are those two deliveries form Wasim Akram to take out Lamb and Lewis in the 92 final. And the Amir Sohail - Parasad incident which cot Pakistan the match. Was fantastic to watch though and still sticks to the memory. |

I have many guyz... I love WC's...
Wasim getting back to back wickets was indeed one although I was only 8 at that time and it was the first tournament when I was watching cricket.
Srinath getting Jayasuriya and Kaluwitharana in the first over of the match in 96 WC Semi Final at Kolkata is another one, I was dancing up and down when that happened.
Warne's magic spell in the 96 WC SF and AUS winning was an unbelivable turnaround I'll always remember.
...and finally Zulu's runout in the SF of the 99 WC is simply unforgettable.
Apart from these, Brett Lee's celebrations during the 03 WC (punching in the air) were something I really liked.

It has to be England's fantastic win when chasing that huge total of 439 against South Africa ! To get that score with 1 ball remaining and not losing a single wicket has to be the greatest performance ever in cricket history ! Strauss 221* and Prior 211* completely destroyed Steyn and company - absolutely fantastic !!!

Can only remember a few things in 99 WC but remember a lot from 2003, and some from 2007 (played in the West Indies so was in school on the playing days, that's why I like those tournaments to not play in the West Indies). Klusener in the 99 WC was electric, I absolutely loved it and remember him smashing Akhtar in a game. In 2003, Shane Bond's spell against Australia was brilliant, probably the best i've seen in an ODI game. John Davison's century was spectacular as well, at that time being the fastest in a WC. Gilchrist final century in 2007 was magnificent as well. Tendulkar's knock against Pakistan in 2003 was brilliant and Ponting in the final was a terrific knock too.

One of my favourite ones was the match in which Malinga took four wickets in four balls. It was a thrilling match, shows how unpredictable the game can be

Both of mine comes from the same match Ind vs Pak 96 QF.
The prasad-sohail incidence and ajay jedeja smashing waqar all over the park in his last two overs (something which was considered impossible till then) |

and your team is doing quite good too... have a chance to beat ENG and eliminate them which will put a smile on the faces of many Bangladeshis.

Yeah the windies have been playing acceptable so far which is kind of odd for them. . I dont know about beating England though because I have to say that England is probably the most unpredictable team in this world cup and so inconsistent too. It should be a hard game for the WI. You never know how England will play on the day. It's going to be a fight between Bang and Eng for a place a the quarter finals though.
