Topic: Freddie's Cricket Teasers Posted: 09 April 2007 at 4:16pm |
Here is a thread where I will post a teaser every couple of days and you have to say whether you think it's true or false, anyone can take part and you get one point for getting the answer right, however the first person to get the answer right will get two points.
So here the competition starts:
Teaser Number One:
A batsman can be out caught even if the ball bounces.
TRUE or FALSE
You have until I post the next teaser to give your answer, when I reveal what this answer is too.
Good luck...

Thats stupid, if one person answers true and one answers false then one will get it right.

Not really, because it's a 50/50 chance of getting it right and just because you think that because one person has answered true and might be wrong and you answer false then you could be wrong and the other could be right, and some of them will be majorly obscure so nobody knows the answer and you could end up with interesting results, and I will also be adding other options for different questions.

I think it's true as well but I think I have a logical reason for it.

True. What if it bounces off another player or is played directly onto the batsmans foot and then caught. Also (because its a teaser) you didn't specify whether it bounces before or after contact with the bat.

The answer was of course true, the ball can bounce off the batsman, the fielder or indeed the umpire or the stumps and be out caught.
The points after the first round are:
70_degree_spin - 2 pts
MP12 - 1 pt
Sledger - 1 pt
JP - 1 pt
Lean Guy - 1 pt
Scuudz - 1 pt
Next teaser to follow shortly....

Teaser Number Two:
The highest successful run chase in ODI cricket is higher than the highest successful run chase in Test cricket.
TRUE or FALSE
P.S. Just a request here, please can you when you say whether it's true or false please don't say how or why it is so it doesn't give it away for other members.
Thanks.

Not doubting 70DS' ability here, but how did 70DS get more points than everyone else?

My reason was because the statement never stated when the ball bounced, I had true because the bowler could have bowler a bouner (the ball bounced) and then the batsman hit the ball and was caught out. The other reason I had was he statement never stated what type of cricket either, and sometimes in backyard cricket you can be caught out with the rule "One hand one bounce" or if the ball bounces off the roof and you catch it with one hand. I think your answer was probably the best though.
TRUE

Anyone else wanting to get the answer, I'll be posting up a new one tomorrow so you've got 24 hours to say whether it's true or false.

Again you all got it right, the answer was of course true, the highest ODI run-chase was 438-9 for South Africa V Australia whereas the highest successful test match run chase was 418-7 for West Indies V Australia.
So the points are now as follows:
JP - 3 pts
70_degree_spin - 2 pts
Sledger - 2 pts
Scuudz - 2 pts
MP12 - 2 pts
Lean Guy - 1 pt
Dhoniisbest - 1 pt
New Bowler - 1 pt
So JP takes the advantage, can anyone catch him up?
Next teaser will be posted up shortly.

70DS and Scuudz if you're saying true you say to say whether he was African or Oceanian, otherwise if it is true then you won't get the points for it.
