I would say Younis Khan after Inzamam but after that though who would you choose? Shahid Afridi must be considered as a favourite to lead the younger generation/future of Pakistani cricket? If you can think of anybody else then say who |

Well Younis Khan is the only one coming close because I can't really think of anyone good enough to follow in Inzy's footsteps. Shahid Afridi, no, I don't think so, not quite yet anyways, because he isn't very consistent with the bat and his err...'behaviour' hasn't been something for youngesters to look up to. Younis hasn't impressed me a whole lot as captain while Inzy's out but I guess it comes with age.

I disagree, i think younis has done well when being asked to deputise for Inzy. I recon in about 8 or so year, Shahid Afridi will be more mature and become captain. Younis is a great icon for many youngsters, undoubtably.

If Younis ever gets a chance to truly captain, without Inzamam in the dressing room calling the shots or overruling him, I think he will be great. He is very sharp, has a very good sense of humor and excellent team spirit and sense of leadership, besides presenting himself intelligently in the international arena. We can't really question his decisions, as most likely they were second-guessed by Inzamam. No question, Inzamam, is a good enough captain- but..I think the time has come for him to hand over the reins! |

I think it will be Mohammad Yousuf. He is responsible enough to take on the job. He showed that when Inzamam isn't there, the Pakistan batting line-up can look up to him to lead them. He hit a double century against England when Inzamam had retired hurt on 35.

'He is responsible enough to take on the job. He showed that when Inzamam isn't there, the Pakistan batting line-up can look up to him to lead them.'- couldn't you say the same for Younis Khan? also in 5 years time Yousef might not be in the side, due to age, hopefully he will be though. Anybody remember why he lost his role as vice-captain? |

Younis Khan is also a responsible player but in the absence of Inzamam, he hasn't impressed me at all. Remember the first test of the West Indies/Pakistan Test series in May/June of 2005. Inzamam was hurt or something and Younis was made captain for the first test. He performed poorly with the bat and Pakistan didn't win the match either.
Mohammad Yousuf on the other hand, has proven that he can anchor the Pakistan batting line-up in the absence of Inzamam. He scored a double century - in the absence of a hurt Inzamam - against England near the end of 2005. |

In 5 years, can you see Mohammed Yousef still in the side? He would be getting on a bit... Anybody remember why he lost his role as vice-captain? |

Nope! I don't remember why he lost his vice-captaincy.
Anyway, you have a good point that in 5 years time, it will be time for Mohammad Yousuf to face the end of the road...and Younis Khan will still have about 2 or 3 years even after 5 years. Maybe Mohammad Yousuf will be made captain after Inzamam's retirement and then after Mohammad Yousuf's retirement, Younis Khan will be made captain. |

Can't see Mohammad Yousuf being made captain after Inzamam's retirement seeing Younis is vice captain...but you never know in cricket! It better not turn out like a Waqar and Wasim retirement where one followed the other! In this case it could be Inzy and Yousef! |

Perhaps if Akmal got the captincy he would have lots of pressure...not many wicketkeepers at the moment who captain their side except Gilchrist at times.

It will definately be Younis Khan. He's been groomed for the role. If Muhammad Yousuf was going to be captain, he would be already doing it, and his first stint wasnt too successful, or maybe he just doesnt want to. I will cry the day Afridi becomes captain. |

If Afridi becomes captain, we will be witnessing the sadest moment in the history of Pakistani Cricket.
Younis Khan or Mohammad Yousuf will be captain when Inzamam retires. |

Definately, Afridi should not be considered as a captain, he is just not meant to be one.
I agree, Younis or Mohammed Yousuf will be captain when Inzamam retires |

You can never be sure! Afridi may change and become a 'Younis Khan Type'
which would be great seeing that Younis is the heart and soul of the Pakistani spirit!

Actually, Inzamam is the heart and soul of the Pakistani spirit. He has taken all the youngsters in the team and made them into one strong, and united team.

Sorry I should have said Younis is the heart and soul of the Pakistani spirit on the field. Inzamam is a good father figure for youngsters like Shoaib Malik and Imran Farhat etc

Me too. Mohammad Yousuf performs against well against most countries and is a very responsible player. He has shown that in the absence of Inzamam, he can lead the Pakistan batting attack. I've already talked about this earlier in the thread so I won't go into details. The only problem is that he is 31 and by the time Inzamam retires, Mohammad Yousuf will be 33. Then he won't have a lot of time left. He could still be captain for a maximum 4 years after Inzi's retirement.
Then Younis Khan will be around 33 or 34 when Mohammad Yousuf retires, and then he could take the captaincy. Then Akmal will be around 33 when Younis Khan retires so then he could take the captaincy. I've planned out everything for Pakistan.

Only thing is Saad, who is going to take the captaincy between the time Akmal retires and you are ready for the job?
