anyone out there think there is any advances in golf club designs that can be applied to cricket bats..i know GN borrowed the perimeter weighted technology for thier scoop bats..what do u guys think about adding weighted screws (or some other material) to certain parts of the blade..just brainstorming

Can't be done - the rules of cricket say the blade must be made solely out of wood.

I dread to think !! The game is geared nowadays towards batsmen , it's about time the bowlers got some help!

yup they can improve these flat dead wickets..especially back home in the Windies...make them greener and make the batsmen earn these runs

Did you see Lillie's infamous Aluminum cricket bat?

It didn't go down too well!

If you missed it here's a video:

I agree completely. There are too many grounds throughout the world, especially in places like the Windies and Pakistan, where any good batting line-up can simply bat the other side out of the game. Aussie tracks traditionally provide something for both bowler and batsman but im worried by reports which seem to suggest theyre going to be a bit dead this winter

They're running scared CM ! Remember they couldn't pass 400 in NINE attempts last year - with at least three 90+ mph bowlers hospitalising them come November they might not even bat 2nd time around after scratching their way to 250 1st up!!

Just imagine , with the way things are going the WACA will replicate the playing conditions of Lahore in 4 years time!

my take is that test cricket will only get exciting when bowlers dominate..batsmen should be tested by seaming bouncing wickets - not always because the game allows for variety- but there is no way a test wicket should be flat on the first three days....as a consequence u will have more results and scoring a ton will be something of value again

I don't know just how much test cricket you can get to see in the US mate , but I can tell you that test cricket has never been so vibrant!

Draws are few and far between , Australia started the trend of aggressive cricket under Allan Border and was carried further by Mark Taylor and Steve Waugh. The rest of the world was rather slow on the uptake , but now all the top sides are playing positively.

Runrates are at an alltime high and fielding sides are , in the main , really pushing to bowl sides out. Highlighting this is the almost total disappearance of thirdman , being replaced by another attacking fielding position.

The days of dull draws are practically over (the odd exception is on some tracks in Pakistan) - I don't have the actual figures of percentage of test wins over the last ten years or so , but maybe one of the members can dig that up.

To give you some idea of the vibrancy of test cricket , The upcoming Ashes series of 5 tests are sold out for the 1st 4 days of each match - that means 400,000 tickets were sold for the Melbourne Test alone!!

Many might prefer one day cricket , but Test cricket is alive and well and still the backbone of the great game.
