hi guys,

ijust bought my gray nicolls predator, it feelsnice and has more meat than i expected. i have played with it against a ball on a string, it seems ok.

i was wondering if anyone else has one and what they think about them?

what i also would like to know is if they are good for hitting over the top?

the sweet spot is mid to high, so you can definetly put short balls to th boudary with it, it also feels nice for playing drives, but you have to get the bat right behind the ball and make sure your head is over the ball when playing it, to get it out of the middle. i havent actually used it in  a match yet, so i dont know if it is good for hitting over the top, im gona have to wait for that though.

it is not 100% what i want, so i am thinking of getting a powerbow, they seem pretty good. befor i purchased the predator , i had a powerbow in mind, the middles seemd to be in the same place on both bats, so i guess powerbows have thicker toes than predator, thus you can hit the ball better on low wickets with a powerbow.

Borrowed it from a friend last year. My memories of the bat are:

Powerbow, Pick up's soooo heavy..and you don't really get that power you think you are.
I personnaly don't think it's a suitable bat for strokemakers.

i do agree with you there, do do pick up slighty slugish, but in light weights i dont find them that bad, although i have had bats in similar weight with better pickups.

hi hugo,

i have a predator 5 star, as for the willow, on all gn 5star bats, its either very good, or simply average. what you have do do if you want it with good willow, is to get it direct from gray nicolls. if you get it direct, they have to give you good willow.

what i did with mine was that a player at my club has some indoor nets, at these nets he also has a shop, i gave him the specifications of which bat i wanted ( gn predator 5 star) and he ordered it straight from gray nicolls. when he ordered it, he told them to make sure the blade is neat, and now, i ahve a gn predator 5 star that has 7 straight grains, and hardly no blemishes or brownish tinges you get on some lower quality bats.

i got mine from him for £135, but i have seen it on some websites for £119.99. the cheaper one will probaly have much lower quality willow.

so basiclly you would end up with a bat that has near to the top of the range willow, but just 5 star stickers.

if you want to know how to get one from my mate,

then just visit http://www.theindoorcricketcentre.co.uk/

and contact nick on email, he is very helpful.

they both are good bats, predator has a lighter pick up, but powerbow is more powerful. also the powerbows midle is lower, if you want a bat for allround play then get the predator, but if you are more of a front foot player who likes to hit over the top and play drives then get a powerbow,

my coach also got a powerbow from my mate on the link i gave you, belive me, the wood on it was fantastic, clean whit blade with NINE GRAINS!!!!!, you hardly never get that on a five star but if you get it from this guy you would.

if you got any more questions, just ask mate.
