Does that mean your supporting India? (I hope so)
Good performance by Sri Lanka. India and Sri Lanka must carry forward their wins with them on Friday. India may have won against a minnow but how often has a team hit 400 against a minnow. It has happened only once (and ironically by Sri Lanka). |

Lankans played keeping in mind the bangladesh potential and never gave a chance, and thats expected from a professional side, well this opens up the group again and the last match will be fantastic. Provided bangladesh do not lose a match to Bermuda!

Sri Lanka really did a job on Bangladesh , they're looking a classy outfit !
Never in it , Bangladesh , and as Wisey says , it sets up a great final match between the big two. The pasting that Sl handed out really gives Bangladesh little chance of qualifying if India beat the Lankans. That isn't a gimme and I'm sure the Lankans will be going flat out to eliminate one of the fancied sides. Don't forget too , that if India do win , they'll take 2 precious points through to the super 8's - that is some incentive. |

This next game is huge...which is just what the tournament needs at this stage which has thrown up so many meaningless matches. With so much riding on it it is bigger even than the Aus v SA which is merely for early bragging rights.
With SL looking ruthless and efficient you'd have to make them the favourites but the Indian batting line up is blessed with sufficient genius that anything can happen on the day (so long as there bowlers up their game anyway!) |

There are 2 ways, India can go to Super 8:
If Bermuda beats Bangladesh, and it could be possible. And if India wins their match against Sri Lanka. After Bermuda beats Bangladesh (and Sri Lanka beat India), 3 teams (India, Bermuda, and Bangladesh) will have same points, because after this happens, team will be chosen on Net RR, India can beat this 2 teams. |

I wouldn't have thought so, India are in a bit of a mess at the moment while Sri Lanka are confident and in form.

All the pressure is on the Indians , the Lankans don't have to win. If India do the business , they'll be buoyant for the super 8's , that's a cert.

He scored them against a second rate attack and they know it, its nice to get the runs but they don't really mean much.

Can't agree Kerm , any decent score when you couldn't buy a run is confidence boosting. Sehwag could give India a flying start
tomorrow and that could set them up for a formidable total.

Maybe its a mindset thing, even if I scored 200 against a poor opposition that wouldnt fill me full of confidence nearly as much as middling the first ball against a good side.
Guess we will have to wait and see, its going to be a massive match and should be good to watch, it also had implications as if India go out then alot of revenue will be lost. |

The match of the group stages, no doubt. I am not even thinking about the Ber-BD match. We have to make sure we beat SL. It really is an all or nothing game. Win it and we qualify for the Super 8s and take two points with us. Lose it, and we are going home (unless theres a miracle and Berm beat BD).
I do not think the Indians will be wondering if the runs they got against Ber actually mean something. They will just know that they put up the biggest total in a WC and won by the biggest margin. The SL team and anyone else that writes off the Indians might have a bit of a shock waiting for them. Conversely, SL do seem to be in great form and will be going into the game as clear favourites.

"Bangaldesh did not meekly surrender to us," he asserted after
Wednesday's wholesome victory, "we made them surrender." And if India
"showed us a few things when we were in India, it is now our turn to
show them."
Jayawardane Thats what Sri Lanka is. They will be throwing on the field in every efforts to pick up the 2 points which can be a deciding factor between a semifinal berth or travel back home. |

First of all, the win with Bangladesh against India didn't surprise me that much. As I have said time and time again, India struggles on bouncy wickets. That one was seaming as well and Mortoza bowled real well and Rasel too. He moved the ball across the righties and swung it back into them - awwwwwwwww, reminiscing of Akram eh. Bangladesh played positive and took advantage of the power plays and that's why they defeated India.
It should be a good game tomorrow - India will have a massive confidence booster by making 413 and especially at the fact that Sehwag made a blistering ton!!
Ganguly is taking his time and not playing careless but he doesn't look like the Ganguly I knew who use to dominate when he is ready. Those days seem gone for him now.
Sri is playing real good! Their bowling is a thousand times stronger than India own. Their top batters are in top form and Sangakkara I feel will be the most prized wicket - a great batter he is!

Early wicket for India. Zaheer Khan getting the prized scalp of Jayasuriya for a lowly 6 off 22 balls. SL are 34/1.
Nice start by India. |

Jayawardene out for 7 off 20, and SL are 53/2. Not looking too impressive.

Yeah it is a challenging total that the Sri Lankans posted for India to get. However at this moment India is batting 87-3 so it does not look very bright for India right now. Anyway they could still recover from their position and win the game.

9 down people, there was hope until Dravid got out, he had those 4s going on, but now its all over.
Theres 1% chance of winning. Bad batting by Ganguly, Sachin, and Dhoni. Edited by dhoniisbest - 23 March 2007 at 8:56pm |

Yes indeed mate, its is very good win by Sri Lanka, they played really well.
They still have chance if Bermuda beats Bangladesh in day-after tomorrows match. India need really big miracle now. |
