Well done JP!  So this is where us English aggregate to drown our sorrows. Kenya and Canada must be hoping that Mahmood and Plunkett get to the caribbean after today's efforts!

England have really been done a favour in the draw and who knows, may even gather some momentum

Trust me Sledge, your boys will enjoy it in St. Lucia. Some of the best facilities and an electrifing outfield and the weather in the Windward Islands is magnificent. One of the best batting tracks in the Caribbean too. England has played there before so they will know a bit... Just pray they don't get carried away by the scenary.

I reckon England have to be favorites to win this group, having just beaten NZ, and the other 2 (hopefully) won't be too hard.

Well England will certainly have their tails up wether they win the CB series (unlikely) or not, I doubt they are going to suddenly turn into ODI masters but if they get a good start you never know whats going to happen. Either way they will make it stressful, England never win anything easily.

My vote for England cause Kevin Pierterson will be playing in the WC and let s hope Marcus Treshochick must be back before the WC -- England looks stronger and favourite one to win the WC cause of Mal Loye , Ey Joye , Kevin Pieterson and Panesar --

I doubt Mal Loye will be playing in the WC but the rest certainly strengthen the squad.

Canada fought well against every team in their group last WC and beat one of them too. Q: Will Ed Joyce play for Ireland in the WC?

Ed Joyce won't be playing for Ireland - if he plays for anyone, it'll be England.

One day cricket is all about batting and if the tracks are beauties it could be the fill up that England need.  High team and individual scores in the group stage could have all the players bouyant going into the super 8.

....and if England win in Australia you can give us the cup now!Wink

It can get extremely humid in St Lucia which would be unpleasant for all concerned - hopefully it's not so bad this time of year

I know Kenya will make it through with Steve Tikolo & Tanmay Mishra holding the middle order and Thomas Odoyo giving them the big late hits at the end of the innings. While they have Peter Ongondo who has been in some electrifying form with the ball who will make a dangerous new ball partner with Odoyo and Hiren Variaya to slow things down and take a few wickets.

Check out my blog http://crictopia.blogspot.com/ pretty bad though...

JD may come in handy in St. Lucia cause the boundaries are long so with his kind of accuracy, if the kiwis try to take him on, he might bag a few!

A few matches have been played in St. Lucia already and all of them had scores of 240 up,except for the one last year between Zim and WI.

Seeing that the dry season is now in progress, I don't think that would be a problem although over night rain alone can carry it up!

I expect England to go through with New Zealand. Not too sure who will win the group. England are missing Trescothick so i am not all the confident england will win the group.

Trust guys in St. Lucia it's really terrific, fast no hell outfield and a superb batting track. On this same ground  Sehwag scored the 180 against WI and i think 95 in the ODI against WI a few months ago.
August 16th 2009, my team Youth Combine was crowned CHAMPION once more

Plunkett did reasonably well yesterday. Mahmood howver is a joke and should be nowhere near the ODI team.

LOL. It's funny you know, I meant Dalrymple Abu but now I realise that Davision has the same initials and bowl too. LOL

I think New Zealand are the favourites for this group. Kenya should be an okish team as well. They'll probably give Canada some competition. I just hope they don't give Eng any!

Should England win the best of three final against Australia in the current tri-series I can easily see them topping the group with three relatively simple victories. However should England pull off a typically awful ODI performance in the following two matches against Australia, New Zealand will be very confident of their chances of topping the group. Also, if the second (more likely scenario) does happen, Kenya and Canada may be looking to cause an upset. It's far too difficult to call at this moment at this moment in time, but I certainly wouldn't bet against any team progressing seeing the recent one day form of all four teams.

County Sim on extended break until I've got less work and more free time. When I have a specific date, I'll post it in the thread.

Oh come on...I don't think it's that bad.......They are so unpredictable.....one minute they can't seem to win a match and next thing you know they are beating the full powered aussies! It's truly amazing. I won't make any predictions on how eng will play in the world cup because we just never know and I may have to eat my words in the end.

In Flintoff and Pietersen England have two players , that if they come off in the same game , can destroy an attack.  Pietersen must play in all the warm ups and all the 1st round games , he needs gametime. If England beat NZ then I'd give Fred a rest against one of the other two sides
Ten days ago I couldn't possibly post exactly what I thought of the English side - now everything's hunky dory!!

I mustn't get too excited though , they're capable of performing abysmally , but the win in Oz must be good for them.

Having said that how about a super 8 match with this result.....

Pakistan win the toss and bat first.........49 all out
England in reply battle hard but.............48 all out !!

A match that lasts barely an hour - exciting stuff huh!!
Mental disintegration works for me !!
