You guys just don't understand how seriously cricket is taken in the subcontinent. It may as well be an actual religion there, because the guys in those national squads are worshipped and prayed for throughout the country, both in India and Pakistan.

It's not just "You win some, you lose some." It doesn't work that way.
 
I know cricket is a religion in Pakistan and India, that is why I typed the post!I saw a poster in the game between India vs Ban that said the following : "In God we trust, ... but God needs help to"!, with pictures of Tendular,Dravid and Ganguly.
 
I'm basicaly telling them to chill, these things happen, it is just a game!
If cricket is worshipped as a sport than, I believe it is a very,very sad day!
I saw into the future - Ashes 2009 England 3 Australia 1!

common man, you shoudnt talk about your team like that. thats what made the pakisthan team loose. all the pakisthanese put whole lot of presure on their team and expect them to win every game. it is just a game man. if you think thay are pathetic why dont you go and play for your country?
What pressure you talking about, these guys were in far east shooting for an advertisement for a beverage just before the world cup, they had most highly profiled coach, their contracts are phenomenal, every series lost was labeled as the teams rebuilding for the world cup.
 
Its not the loss but the manner in which they have lost, total spineless, captain calling one day that he will bat up the order and that never happened. Catching and fielding has been dreadful throughout, manner of getting out was abysmal, so what is there to be happy about!

I tried the maximum restraint , but some one has to analyze whats going on, no one had expected them to be so poor, I think its time to remove a few faces from the cricket scene in pakistan!
Yes I might sound a lot more pesimistic, but the state of affairs is really poor, current times pakistan cricket is revolving around 15-18 players at the most, youngsters have not been chanaled properly. An orthopedic surgeon is the head of PCB who has no cricketing credentials to run the organization and he was adamant on staying with the team throughout the world cup. Few Players certainly have a long lease no matter how they perform, so when these things add up we get them performing like that Rock bottom!

 Come on mate, get a life, no one has criticized Bob, infact he has been responsible for almost whatever pakistan has achieved in the last few years. We have nothing but praise for the great man.Unfortunately its the players that are supposed to perform, if a test level player does'nt understand what he is required to do to stay on the wicket, no coach can tell them that.
I can well understand, your team has been losing for so many decades that its just an everyday affair for you guys, but pakistan has not been such a poor side , better things are expected from them!

Mob everywhere behaves in the same manner, but its the intellegencia which makes the opinions about people. Sentiments are usually high after such loses, and it happens more in the subcontinent.
 
Those that understand cricket have a lot of praise for Bob, Infact atleast I can say for myself, that throughout my posts at CW I have always praised Bob for his achievments, pakistanis were a scattered mob when he joined, he organised them, nurtured them and led than to a no 2 slot in the world for a long time. But a Coach cannot  fight in the ground, its the players that have put up a very flimsy act leading to such a heart breaking loss!

My opologies for that, but we had a seperate thread about Bob and probably this thread was solely for teams performance and I was just refering to the players as they still ahve a lot amny excuses for the loss!

If NZ lose on Wednesday, and again on the weekend I can safely say that Braces (NZ coach) will chew the fat for several years to come. Here we do not force losers into submission.

I am ashmed to be a part of the same planet as some of those Pakistani fans; oh and don't argue with me.

What has the world come to when people act in this way? Is this a game? a sport?
Cricket is about enjoyment, win, lose or draw.
After reading that link posted, I can only feel sorry for anyone subjected to such primitive behaviour and thats what it is, primitive.

It's disturbing when you see reactions of that sort over a game.  Whilst I can get pretty hacked off with some England reversals (in many different sports!) it lasts until my next pint. Then I take a deep breath , am thankful that my wife and daughter are fit and well and carry on with the saga that is life.

  Perspective seems non-existent with some people and not just on the subcontinent - when I see English football supporters crying after their side has been relegated I want to throw up , their grasp on all things worldly are so out of kilter.

   Sport is wonderful and a world without it would be so , so drab. I love to watch highly skilled men and women excel in their chosen field and a little envy courses through my veins at their exploits - I think all of us share that same feeling , but we just weren't blessed with the talent to take the world stage.

   In summary , Bob Woolmer's passing was far , far more tragic than Pakistan losing a cricket match.

I agree.  A tragic death like this definitely puts things into perspective.  I lost my dad less than a year ago.  He was just 58 too.  My whole psyche changed after that.  Obviously, the pak fans arent as close to Bob as I was to my dad but I would have thought they would have behaved appropriately atleast out of respect. 
 
Its sad for cricket and some fans have made it worse.  It is unfortunate to see that even some members on here just dont get it.

 Gritty stuff from the Zimbabweans , but ultimately not good enough. A comfortable win for the hosts , but not that convincing , they'll have to up the ante if they're going to be the first home side to lift the trophy.
    Still , no banana skins for Lara's men and maybe the shackles will come off now they've qualified and we might be treated to something special against the Irish.

     Of course the Irish will be celebrating too , they look safe now unless there's another major upset in the Zim/Pak clash.

Sean Williams is a good find for Zimbabwe one of their better players smashed 70 from 88 balls today against a decent bowling attack. Brendan Taylor 121-ball 50 was really painful hitting 1 four and 1 six. It was a good knock but in this game he really should have pushed for the singles and twos or atleast look for the gaps for some boundaries.

Reactions in Pakistan were realy disturbing, chants of killing Inzi, Nasim ashraf, and bob woolmer were nothing but a spontaneous reponse to the bitter loss against Ireland and it should be taken in the same prospective.

Overall majority and cricket loving people have generally not raised slogans against Bob, Unfortunately publication of these pictures coincided with the sad demise of Bob, and it has disturbed everyone, even those who were raising slogans as it was never wished by anyone no matter how angry they were on the loss.
 
Unfortunately this love hate situation is intense in Indo pak, one day they are dieing to get an autograph of pakistani players on streets and the other hurling stones on their houses and burning efigues. We can debate on it, a lot have been ashamed of sharing the earth with them, but good or bad this is how folks behave in subcontinent.
 
Bottom line , Pakistan has been blessed to have a coach like him and this is the general feeling, people on the street have been shocked with the news believe me. Yes they were angry but they love Bob and never have imagined something like that to happen to him!

Good game by the windies. They were expected to beat Zim and they did....but the Zimbabweans could really field good. Maybe some of the other teams could take some lessons from them.....
Their wicket keeper was not that good though....but their batsmen did good to make 202....that was really a good effort.

How could people be so cruel and cold???Confused It's really sad that Bob Woolmer died...he really gave a lot to the game and people should sympathize not lash out and make such heartless comments...

I can tell you at the start of the WC i was hoping Pakistan would of got an early exit but today i wish they had win the match against ireland and Bob may of been a happy man today and living.
