don't worry -JP- , he is just talking gibberish Well minimurali, i am mainly a bowler (leggy) but sort of concentrated hard on batting this year. Those stats doesn't really mean i am really that good like tendulkar cause the bowlers here in the school competition are not that good |

Back it up with some evidence and you might have a case - have you seen him bat?

You've certainly improved a lot then! You are mainly a bowler aren't you spin wizard? Or are you an allrounder? Because you sound good enough to be! |

quicky england surely need you for the future and thanks warnester for the tip and when i hit a boundary as well my confidence grows as well. Anytime i hit a boundary in my innings i passed 21 runs, made 21, 29, 67, 103. my first 6 innings in school cricket only yielded 5 runs, i was so terrible back then but made 206 runs in four innings this season. |

take a few deliveries to settle, when settled make sure your footwork is in order and then hit them bioundaries, dont forget to watch the ball all the way onto your bat. Also, get someone to bowl at you at a similar line consistently for a certain shot so you can work on it.

If you mean to a spinner ripping it a mile, then for an offspinner (if you're right handed) take your guard on off stump and try to sweep him or slog him over mid wicket. This is because when your guard is on off stump and you put your feet in the position to sweep him, your foot will be outside the line of off stump and if you get hit on the pad, it negates the effect of lbw. If you're left handed you can do this to a legspinner. |

You say you need help, I think you should be in the ICC rankings or something! No apparent weaknesses noted here, and you're a spin wizard as well! I can definitely imagine seeing you in the West Indies team in the next few years if you really are this good! |

If you mean dead track as in no spin, then play it normally how you would a medium pacer. If you mean dead track as in ripping spin, then of course the sweep is very effective but also very risky. I wouldn't suggest playing it unless you are a very skilled batsmen and can play it already or can learn and adapt new techniques quickly. Does this answer your question? |

well, i don't really slog the ball like you but i prefer the leg side and i have immense power in my arms as well. I don't do a high bat lift and still hit the ball hard. I have good timing so i beat the leg side field with ease but i don't really look for the big hit. i only go hard at the ball when it is there for a drive and hit it very hard over the bowlers head. my cut shot is good and my backwards defend too but i don't play cover drives, i love the off drive. I am also famous here where i live for the flick of the legs down to fine leg and past square leg. the people here loves how i play it, thats maybe the only shot i can play better than tendulkar

It depends entirely on where the ball is pitched, obviously, but I much prefer hitting to the legside and am really impatient and end up slogging every ball as that is so much more fun. I have hit 64, 42 n.o and 40 slogging near every ball down the park with some mates!!! (their averages are something like 5 as warnester will tell you!) |

Just searching through the forums and found there isn't really a topic designed to help people improve their batting. If you want help with any aspect, or want to give advice, feel free to post it here. I'm hoping it will be as much of a success as miniwarney's spin topic, only with batting, so get posting!
