The club pro, Chris Brown is currently doing hi ECB Level 4. Highest Level you can get.

Takes a couple of years to complete though, as he has to travel to do the sessions.

School nets yesterday went very well.  I bowled consistently, although half a foot too short, which was annoying. My batting was solid as a rock and my teacher bowled some of his 65 mph yorkers at me. I didn't get out though and he said I had a chance of opening for the firsts if I bat as well as that every week. LOL

I'm re-inventing myself as an off-spinner.

This year, I'm the captain of my school's [indoor] team. Our first match is on Thursday; we'll be playing without our ONLY fast bowler because his paperwork was late. I've figured over the past 2 years playing club cricket and indoor cricket that its true that "fast bowlers are born, not made..." Sooo, I've decided to bowl my crappy medium for the rest of this season and switch over to left-hand spin next season.

I'm a pretty technically correct batsman [I think... heheheee]. I'm opening the innings for my school team.

I've also improved my fielding immensely this year; my coach sometimes calls me 'jonty' [as a compliment].

I'm planning to play U-17 in summer - mainly as a batsman.
Regulation without integration leads to suicide.

Typical run around today. But have training with the local club 1sts and 2nds tomorrow, should be great since they're a very good team.

in the style of saadvanceds post i thought id give you a random summary

its about a month untill our first game (22nd april) its a friendly against our first teams fierce rivals, im pretty sure im in with a shout at getting in the team, after my proformances at the end of last season, and my bowling so far this year in nets, im one of only 2 spinner, im a leggie, the other is an offie, its likley that well both play.

Quite a few new players have joined this year, a very impressive looking pace bowler whos deseptivly quick, but he is likey to play for the 1s, its the general done thing at my club that adults play for the 1st and anyone below 18 play for the 2nds, but its not set in stone.

No notable spinners have joined.

We have about 20 people looking for a place in the 2nds this year, but im hopful of a solid place in the team based purley on my bowling, my fielding however is above average, im well know for my effort and random diving. My batting is poor, and im likely to bat anywhere between 9 and 11, im a reasonably good blocker of the ball but i often play stupid shots and get out.

so thats me!

any questions just ask :P

Batted godly at nets today. no wckets lost, no shots up in the air, just solid (boring) batting. After I batted I bowled a bit and I was getting loads oif turn but every few balls I bowled a shocker which was very annoying. However, I have improved so..

Our next school game is against Warilla, according to our P.E teacher one of their batsman scored 160 odd and one of their bowlers took an 8 wicket haul.

As soon as our team heard that, everybody was like "oohoooh we're gonna get smashed" or "we'll get flogged", and then I just started thinking to myself,  jeez what kind of mindset is that, you're never going to win if you're not positive, I just don't think our captain is fit to lead a team, a captain is meant to motivate the players, not join in with the "we're gonna get smashed" type lines.

Tomorow in about 10 hours from now i've gone from an amazing number 11 batsman to opening the innings in the grand final. This week the coach let me use his bat he was amazed with the powerful slogs I hit and when he said I was opening I was mortified. I am just a defensive batsman once I go for a slog I will not stop going im opening because there opening bowlers alot of short bowls.

Last week we had them at 1-32 after 25 overs! but at stumps they where 4-131 from 58 overs I took a career best 2 wickets including there best batsman Scott Dalrymple. My fielding is amazing, my bowling is adequate and my batting is medicore. So hopefully we will get them out for under 180 because its a 72 over game. I can smell a flag in my first year of cricket!

Reminds me of my first ever school match mate! We saw the opposition warming up and their fast bowlers got the ball to kick off with pace and bounce and we were scared. Everyone on our team was on debut but in the end, we won the match.

My season kicks off on the 31st of March but I am not sure yet if I would be playing or if my team is playing on that date. I can't wait to have a go in the International stadium.

72 over a side. Well earlier today heavy rain fall delayed the game after 1 hour we came out and  we were all over them after continuing from 4-131 from 58 overs we took 4-18 from the last 14 years. With one of our bowlers taking 5-27 from 15 overs.

When we came out to bat me and my partner put on 19 from 11 overs until he got his off stump rattled. On stumps where 1-23 from 15 overs I thought I was 1* from 41 balls but i'm actually a career high 3* from 36! Can't wait for tomorow to win the granny!!!

Well I didn't have a very good nets today wen i was boling with a large number of wide and short piched balls .The batting shaped out really well and I middled most of the balls except one which hit me on my ris .it wasnt that fast a ball so no damage done hopefully and there isn't any pain either .

Bowled medium yesterday in the nets as opposed to legspin and I surprised myself with how much pace and movement I generated, I bowled some pretty good cutters, but could not swing the ball much because the ball was old. I clean bowled two people got  one edge and another batsman spooned me into the air, I am probably going to give up legspin and concentrate on seam.

My batting was vastly improved I managed not to get out and I hit the majority of balls I even managed a cut shot. Hopefully I can concentrate on hitting the ball well and not just staying in.

i played school cricket the other day, we playd a one dayer 35 overs a side and i bowled 7 overs 2/25. My first spell of 4 overs went for 8 and i was unlucky to get no wickets but i bowled the second spell of three overs for twenty runs and was lucky to get two wickets so it balanced out, i got run out for 1. It was one of those run outs where you back up and the ball hits the bowlers hand and hits the stumps.

Had our last innings of the season today, i took 2-30odd off 14 overs, with a slight 1st innings deficit + what they scored we were chasing 181 to win, we fell 50 short on a absolute rubbish pitch.

Over the last few net sessions i've been working on my over spinner which has a lot of height and dip and rips forwards low when it bounces, going ok  but its hard with the murali action

My first net in 3 weeks today, just a quiet session with a few of us. As we only had one net going and the bowling machine there wasn't much opportunity to bowl and when I did it wasn't fantastic but I am not bothered about that and will sort it out tomorrow.

Batting against the machine we worked on played back of a length deliveries as we have done in the past. Keeping them out is one thing, scoring off them is another and I found by batting about two yards out of my crease the length became easily hittable....so easy I was ordered to get back into my crease!

For the last 30 or so deliveries I just went after every ball and hit some immense blows, a really fun little session.

Had trials today for the under 18 "winter excellance training programme" squad, over a couple of days about 60-70 people trial and 18 make the squad. Its a stupid squad, once every two weeks a 2 hour session of basic skills over the winter months at the academy centre. I wont make it even though i got like 5-6 wickets (in 45 mins of bowling) as im just not quick enough to make it as pace bowler, and not accurate enough to make it as a containing bowler.

I've got this course in the easter term i'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully I will improve my batting some more and it will give me a chance to get my bowling more accurate. I am going to have to decide if I am going to spin it or swing it and this will give me ample oppertunity.

Found myself a new club in Hardington & East Coker cricket club, and got my first training session a week on Sunday with them, hopefully they could do with somebody of my skill and calibre in the side.
On extended leave...
