Had a terrible session on sunday, due to having been at work untill a couple of hours before nets left me fairly tired and not able to perform properly, obviously need to work on fittness a bit... and stop drinking so much.

When bowling I was spraying it all over the place, except to left handers, bowled a left hander again, for some reason I cant get it right to right handers, I'm going to set up some stumps on the uni field and bowl at them till I have damn well sorted it out.

Batting was hmm, interesting, second I got in at the end some mouthy git from another team that had come in early in the net across from me was saying that our time was up and I should get out, so cue ball comming in, me playing a typical tail-ender cover drive that hit the net and stopped inches in front of the guys face cueing the most sarcastic "sorry mate" I have ever produced.

All in all not great, need to sort out my bowling.

Had our extra punishment fielding practise yesterday, a lot of us now have seriously bruized and swollen hands, should be interesting for trying to catch the ball for real in the game tomorrow. But all in all the practise was actually pretty good, i didn't know i had such good reactions and could catch so well with my wrong hand

I find my reaction catches are better with my wrong hand - maybe as you don't have time to think, you just do it, I guess.

We managed a 'net' at work the other day, with a pitch of about 12 yards, no run-ups and a junior bat.

Good for the reactions, that!

Today I took a career best 1-4 off 2 overs. The batsman had no clue what so ever.

Ha, our game was pretty pathetic. A terrible pitch, it was either low bounce or extreme 'tennis ball' bounce, hardly anything in between, in saying that though we scored 204 all out in 48.4 overs. The opposition lost a wicket in the first over, trying to 'dirty' the bowler over cow corner. But from then on they just wouldnt get out, my yorkers just slipping past leg stump, balls falling just short of fielders, ball bouncing too much over the stumps.
In the end they got that score for only 3 wickets down in the 45th over.

Today, our side had a decent game, we made 7/190 from 40 overs, when I bowled, I beat the edge tons of times, there were two catches dropped off my bowling. One in the deep, to a ball that got steeping bounce and the batsman got under it, and hit it right into the air and it got dropped, and the other one was our keeper who dropped a simple take, the ball had extra bounce, bit of movement into the rhb to cramp him for room and he edged it through my keepers gloves.

They made 153 all out in reply and we won the game.

Indoor Training - Week 3

Bowling continued to improve. I picked up a couple of wickets (bowled) and for the first time started to beat the batsmen for pace. Will look to continue developing my pace next week and will also try and throw in some more slower balls.

Batting was satisfactory. Nicked one delivery but didn't get out again. Still finding the spinners a bit tricky. They are pitching the ball back of a length/short and due to the low bounce i cannot risk the pull shot. I tried to employ the sweep shot with mixed success but was weary of playing across the line. Next week i'll look to come down the wicket more to the spinners and play controlled strokes rather than the big shots.

Just the normal practise, some fielding, then a bit of a net. But now we've been invited every 2nd week to go to our local clubs 1st and 2nd XI training, should be good since i impressed them at pre season training.

I started some fielding training yesterday, we were basically lobbing balls against a wall and catching them. Now you may think it's stupid but it's actually quite hard, as the ball bounces off in all different directions and it's difficult to catch, I then did some reflex one-hand catches and I took some good ones, so overall I'm pleased with my fielding, I'm just going to have to wait until the summer when I can start playing properly again.
On extended leave...

Happily I don't feel anything like as sore this morning as I did after my first net last week.

I could also see a big improvement, especially with the bat although things still aren't quite right - the feet are starting to move but not necessarily in the right directions. I did hit one shot which would have been a massive blow outdoors. Also had my first go facing the bowling machine for the year - I had decided it would be best to work on drives on the machine to help footwork and I did okay, including one drive which nearly decapitated the loader, and some nice work off my legs.

My bowling went well though - I was swinging it quite a bit and my lines are good for so early in the year and I rattled the stumps a few times. I also bowled the quickest I had in ages - bit of a strange one in some senses since I never bowl as fast outdoors as I do in the nets.

I had a much improved session this week, when I was bowling I had more pace and accuracy, probably partly based on the fact I was looking in front of me when bowling not upwards like last week :s also bowling an off cutter as my stock ball which has for some reason led the captain to believe i'm bowling spin so he gives me useful advice such as "loop it up a bit", may have to have a word about that.

As for the batting, that was amusing at best, the complete lack of any technique made up for by the fact i was actually watching the ball for once led to some erm, interesting strokes, mate of mine bowled the last ball of my batting and he decided to go for leg spin and I hit a Mal Loye style slog sweep that was fun but would have gone straight to a fielder I imagine.

Need to work on my fittness now, was knackered after batting, throwing in a few defensive strokes could have given me a rest but thats well... not really my style, anyway cant wait for next weeks session i'm rather fired up now.

hi guys started nets 3 weeks ago, bowling went fine, few wides here and there 1 wicket for bowling nealry 2 1/2 hrs, but the star of the show was my new bat, L&W signature, had two secessions with it its now in hiding wating for the season to start, the practice bat is fabulous as well the shots stayed hit with it, i am stopping short of more description to make sure it does not turn into another bats topic.

I had training for the 1st XI today ( in the middle of the holidays as well, what commitment!). I bolwed pretty well and I've now pretty much found a decent consistent rhythm and the accuracy's increased a lot too, which is good.

I batted quite well but A#I got smacked on the knee by a full toss, because my pad was just about falling off so wasn't covering my leg! LOL

Game was cancelled/rained off. Weve had brilliant weather all week, but on friday it poured all day and soaked the outfield and made the pitch quite damp. All well gives me a chance to get in an extra run.

Well i had an awful day with my bowling. Nothing went where I wanted it to. The only wickets I got were when I bowled offies and pace as a joke. I'm now going to train for an hour a day to rediscover my form like I did last year. I know this is just a blip and there is a champion inside me. (cheesy line LOL)

I didn't bowl so well at nets today either. We had changed venues and the one today has a restricted run up which probably didn't help, but I just couldn't get my action going as I would have liked.

Batting is better at this net though as you can trust the bounce so there was lots and lots of pulling - helped by the overall standard of the bowling being pretty low, but I hit a few nice straight shots that pleased me, right out of the screws.

Practise was held in very hot conditions today, but i still managed to charge in for about an hour before i tweaked my ankle and had to slow down to about spinner pace. The coach appointed to us by our regional organisation had a go at me about why havnt i made a small modifications to my bowling action that he said about, so i just told him its a bit late to be changing my action 3/4 through the season....especially when it takes 1000+ deliveries to make a permanent change to ur natural action.

Finally felt like I was batting well on Saturday at club nets, hit some pretty good strokes and my coach seemed impressed. Bowling was terrible but I couldn't care less as I'm in the team as a specialist batsman.

Got another net tomorrow ar school, which will be more of a challenge as the bowlers are better

Today was unbelievable after the 1st week was washed out we had to play a 24/24 over game. We where 21/2 after 10 overs at one point but how middle order played aggressivley to take us to a fairly good total of 149-4 (24). We smashed 120 runs off the last 11 overs.

In reply we got two quick wickets after a strong partnership they where 2/30 odd. But then heavy rain stopped play for 5 minutes we were so determined to win cause we needed to win to make the finals. We came back out onto the field and 1 over later it started pouring again. Luckily it didn't last long once again we came back out and the batsman where scoring runs all over the place. We finally got the breakthrough and from there on we got wickets. There last batsman comes out at about 9/117 they need 33 from 30.

Two good overs and they still needed 25 from 18, then I was called on to the final over in wet conditions the ball wouldn't turn. When they yelled out youse need 17 to win I was shaking. My team-mate was given me advise on where to pitch it. I bowled a fullish length and the tail ender pulled me for 4. I really started shaking next ball they run 2 followed by another 2.

They need 9 from 3 balls. I bowled another fullish length delivery although it didn't feel right coming out of the hand when I bowled batsman missed it pass the keeper for 1 bye. He then controversially walked off and we were all wondering whats he doing one of our players quickly chucked the pads on. 8 runs from 2 balls I was feeling the pressure. I bowled a full length delivery on the off stump batsman drives it straight to silly mid on throw to the bowlers end I RAN HIM OUT!!! Amazing moment it was we all jumped in excitement. We won by 7 runs and now into the finals but I never want to bowl the last over of a match again.

That adds to my other victorious moment of when I came in at 8-120 with 20 runs needed and made 1 from 25 thats right up there with that moment. IM PUMPED!!!!!
